I chose to cruise on the NCL Star because my family loves NCL. We had a great experience on the Getaway a couple years back and wanted to experience Norwegian's smaller ships. We also wanted to try different ports, so we decided to sail on the Star. After reading many bad reviews, I wasn't so sure I was going to have a good time. Well, those reviews were ... I just disagreed with them. I have no idea what they were talking about! The Star is a wonderful ship. The layout is beautiful and traditional with many modern decorations throughout. The cabin was a little old fashioned, but sitting on the balcony was a favorite. The dining was great! We always ate at Versailles because we found it more breathable with the many windows. The waiters were really friendly and we got to hear about their wonderful adventures. We actually times how long it took for the food to come and it was 9 minutes! Pretty amazing! The entertainment was one of the best! Maybe not show wise... but the comedian and the hypnotist were hilarious and VERY ENTERTAINING! We had so many laughs our stomachs hurt from laughing so much. Our room steward was very friendly and always was smiling and gave us the cutest towel animals. The ports, like we wanted, were amazing and different from your regular cruise ports (Nassau, St Marteen, and St Thomas). We traveled with 2 teenagers and let me tell you they had so much fun! They had the best time exploring and just being themselves.
So if any of the negative comments get to you, please brush them off. Because you will have a wonderful time on the Star! The ship is simply beautiful with many things to offer. The Star defiantly shines in the nine cruises I've been on!
Boarding was smooth ;)
Very beautiful port with much to offer
The tender lines were a bit long, but I love tendering (for some reason my fam doesn't understand)
Fun seeing the ship from many beaches
Kinda sad not docking in the main port... but it was nice with no crowds!
