This cruise on the Escape was only our 2nd cruise. Our first was on the NCL Jewel which is about half the size in passengers as the Escape. The Escape has so many more passengers that you have to make reservations to the entertainment venues, which we didn't on the Jewel. Every place is more crowded, except the Garden Café. They made much more seating and larger buffet on the Escape. Which was great. We could always find a seat in the buffet area and never had to wait long in line for food. Every venue we ate at was excellent on the Escape. The specialty dining was wonderful, but even the regular dining areas were tip-top. Even the buffet food was delicious. We have never eaten so well on a vacation, except on the last Norwegian cruise.

Long lines for elevators.(so many people on board). We thought the entertainment, (the shows, not the comedy/magicians) was really better on the Jewel. I didn't care for the Brat Pack show at all. I guess you would have had to grown up during the 80's. The After Midnight production was alright, but personally I am not a fan of Cotton Club music. The performers were great. The comedian Frank Townsend was terrific. Really funny. The cruise director, Tyler was terrific. He is a crazy guy that just made all the games on the ship fun. He is a great cruise director.

The best upscale of the Escape over the Jewel is the bathroom. So much more room! And so much more storage in the room. More storage everywhere. That was great.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BF

The cabin has more storage room than previous ships. The bathroom is much larger and has more storage for everything. We never felt cramped, but we always get a balcony which helps. Got to have a balcony to watch the waves.

On this cruise we only saw our steward once, which we thought was strange, but our room was always made up and cleaned. We still love seeing the towel animals.

Port Reviews

Nassau

When you disembark the ship you go straight to the Bay street with all the cruise line shops or the Straw market. Hawkers everywhere. As soon as you get past cruise ship security the hawkers are after you. I felt like I was in Tijuana, Mexico. They wouldn't leave you alone. I didn't get to see much of the Bahamas, but I did notice it is flat unlike the Virgin Islands which are all hills.
