Selected this cruise as a late break when very little choices were available at the time. Initially we were very impressed with the speed of embarkation at Barcelona, but this was quickly dispelled by having to wait around for some time for access to our cabin due to cleaning/preparation work to be carried out.

The ships appearance was good and seemed clean, modern and well organised, our first trip to the buffet style restaurant confirmed that the cuisine was geared to a Mediterranean diet, and our first pizza was consumed. Virtually all main dishes in the evening meals used white meat (veal/chicken/fish) and in general was cooked ok. Our main concern was that in the buffet restaurant, the cutlery was dirty on several occasions which may have accounted, along with the change of diet, to my having to take imodium on three occasions.

Our balcony cabin was very impressive and roomy, the toilet/shower was more than adequate but the lack of a kettle was a let down and our quilt cover had a rip in it which was still there at the end of the cruise. A quick flip through the TV channels showed that the only thing for the English speakers was Sky news which rapidly proved to be the most boring channel ever and unfortunately the TV did not accommodate a usb memory stick.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Stayed in Barcelona for two days prior to embarking, our hotel (hotel Espana) was ideally located in the heart of the city and every aspect was above expectations. The hop on hop off bus kept us occupied for some time

Marseille

Made our own way round with the help of a supplied map, very enjoyable

Genoa

Another enjoyable stop and the customary bus was used again

Palermo (Sicily)

Pleasant place to visit on your own and explore

Malta (Valletta)

Having been to Malta several times we made our own way around and avoid the steep streets of which Valetta is made up
