I have been on many cruises and even a European river cruise and this one is unlike anything I have ever done. It was the most relaxing vacation I have ever taken. The music and food were outstanding. The personnel were most accommodating. The rooms however were different, which for me was good but would not be for all. We were with many another couples who agreed with us but wondered if our other friends would enjoy it as much. It is a paddleboat, decorated in Victorian style with tiffany glass and old style furniture. Each stateroom is different. I can tell you that our stateroom was at the back of the ship with two sinks and a dressing table, # 456 …which was a total surprise. We had worried that the would be a problem but vibration and sound from the wheel did not bother us. Most rooms were not like that, they all look out onto the deck, which is how you enter the room and balcony seating is outside the door, which can be an issue or are inside and very small. No two rooms seem to be the same. The ship was recently updated so the bathrooms were quite modern.
Hop on hop off buses were included at each port and were wonderful even though some of the cities were a stretch to find places to talk about. It was a look at an America we had never seen. I can’t say enough about the entertainment. This cruise had a theme, Music of America, No Faux broadway or cirque here…just pure musicians and singers…blues, old school standards, southern rock, Dixieland etc. I would imagine the quality of the entertainment would be the same even with a different theme.
Food choices were good, something for everyone. The only problem we had was uneven service, but the workers tried hard to please. One more thing...average age of cruisers was about 70.
two sinks and a dressing table. Quite large. Paddlewheel outside so no view from the room, but a good tradeoff since less people walking outside. Not a problem with the noise or vibration for us. I would take this stateroom again.
