We booked this cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary and all in all it was a wonderful trip, a trip of a lifetime. We saw so many beautiful and wonderful places, and met many wonderful people. Our Regent experience was, with a few notable exceptions, as good as the one 7 years ago in the Mediterranean. I will bullet point the positive and negatives below, and have, of course, given these to Regent as well in their post-cruise survey.
Positives:
The Crew/Service - the staff and crew on board were absolutely wonderful. Everyone went out of their way to try to get to know you and to exceed your needs. The crew members were exceptionally interactive compared to our past cruise experiences, playing games and taking the time to chat with passengers frequently. The wait and bar staff were always welcoming, remembering favorite items and going out of their way to accommodate (had a bartender go ashore to find us lychees and had our cabin stewardess always find pears for me). The level of service we experiences was exceptional.
Cabin Review
Deluxe Suite
Cabin was spacious and comfortable. Large walk in closet and bathroom. I will say there was a tub and separate shower which seemed like a waste of space as we never used the tub. The bath amenities were not as nice as previous cruise, but still nice. Nice balcony, in room fridge and flatscreen TV. Good movie selection for those long sea days. Free Wifi that was extremely slow.

Beijing
Long drive from Bangkok to cruise terminal. Would have been nice to have the guide provide some sort of narrative or history along the way,
Shanghai
Loved this tour. Gardens were beautiful and the tourist shopping district was fun. Did feel a bit rushed though.
Hong Kong
Not our favorite tour or city. Basically just the same as any large city anywhere with a lot of traffic, shopping, etc. Also seemed dirtier than other places wevisited
Halong Bay
Loved Ha Long Bay! We took one excursion to a countryside farm and to a beautiful Buddhist temple and loved it. The next day we toured the Monoliths - a world heritage site and it was breathtaking. Many of our fellow passengers opted to take the 12 hour excursion to Hanoi but I was glad we stayed close to Ha Long. It looks like they are building a huge theme part=k and a new airport, so this may be a much busier destination in the future.
Bangkok (Laem Chabang)
Decided to forgo the 2.5 hour bus ride into Bangkok and took the shuttle into Pattaya. This is a nice little beach town about 40 minutes from port. Unfortunately we spent most of the time waiting out the rain in a mall (nice mall but still a mall). Once the sun came out enjoyed strolling the beach. Much of the est of the town seems set up with a ton of bars and massage parlors. Most looked OK but some seemed sketchy.
Siem Reap
This was a post cruise land tour and was the highlight of our trip. We stayed at the Borei Angkor hotel which was absolutely wonderful. Ate some of the best food in our lives in Siem Reap, and of course toured in awe the Angkor complex including the majestic Angkor Wat. If you find yourself in this part of the world, do make time to visit Cambodia. I would give yourself at least 3 days in Siem Reap
