Sail Date: May 2017

This was our first river cruise although we have taken many ocean and a Mediterranean cruise. We choose this one because of work schedules we needed a shorter one and we had never visited Eastern Europe.

This cruise included 2 land nights on both ends and only 3 nights actually on the boat, Vienna, then Budapest.

The cruise line rep met us at Vienna airport and provided transportation to the Vienna Intercontinental Hotel (great breakfast buffet included daily), Avalon provided a bus/walking tour of Vienna which was good but we bought the Vienna Pass online before we got there. We saw many sights and the hop on bus was included, Schonberg Palace, Albertina Museum, House of Music, Mozarts home, St Stephen Cathedral, to name a few. We went to Mass at a church near the palace where the music was a full orchestra playing Strauss. It seemed like there was Classical music everywhere. Sacher torte at Sacher Hotel (a line to get in but you can get it elsewhere too).

Cabin Review

Cabin 2

This is a new ship and it shows well. The room was plenty large and the wall of window that slides open was fantastic. Amenities were of a fine line and bottled water is always replenished.

Port Reviews

Bratislava

Cruise sponsored tour was great. Our guide, Jana, was funny and informative. We loved Bratislava. The town is very walkable and clean. We walked up to the castle for some great views and pictures. Prices on souvenirs are good. Visited St Martin Church. Enjoyed a local drink at a pub near St Michaels Gate. The wine was very good in Slovakia.
