Our previous experience made us want to return for another Alaska cruise. Same ship, same cabin - almost the same experience. The only disappointment was that training sessions were limited. The time aboard was as good as we remember. We feel that because this was the first cruise of the season for the Volendam, that we should cut them some slack. There really were no surprises and the crew were outstanding. The entertainment was a little short. The crew's dance and signing performance could very easily be classed as professional, the dancing for people whose normal function is working aboard ship was outstanding itself. We found ourselves frequenting the "Ocean Bar", the servers (Michael & Catherine) gave us excellent service, we would, and have recommended their service to Holland America.
Cruising to Alaska should be on everyone's Bucket List. For those who have never cruised, this is probably the best on to take. Holland America's Inside Passage routing is the best routing and the choice of cities to visit cannot be faulted.
We weren't in the cabin much except to rest and sleep. I will admit that the bathtub is not designed for someone 6'2" with long legs. But that's my problem, not the ship's.
Walking around Skagway is convenient, there is much to see and do .
The highlight of any Alaska cruise is the several hours spent in cruising Glacier Bay.
Much to see wandering about the downtown area.
