Sail Date: May 2017
Cabin: Neptune Deluxe Verandah Suite

This was our first cruise on Holland America after 15 cruises on Celebrity, Disney, RCCL, NCL, Carnival, Windstar, and SilverSea.

We picked the cruise probably for all the wrong reasons: we had a specific 7 day window that we could cruise on and the only itinerary available was HAL's Volendam to Alaska.

Neptune Deluxe Verandah Suite

Cabin SB

Large suite located forward on the port side. Massive balcony. Lots of room but could benefit from better storage options to improve the amount of available space. Bathtub/shower combo is a compromise that keeps no one happy. Shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the bathroom seem really cheap for a suite.

Port Reviews

Vancouver

Be prepared to spend a lot of time in lines if there are multiple cruise ships embarking passengers.

Glacier Bay

Stunning national park - glaciers will be gone in a few years so try to get there soon!

Park rangers provided commentary and we saw a lot of wildlife (seals, otters, bears).

Ketchikan

We made this port our 'relax and look around' stop. Small town with a lot of souvenir and jewelry shops. You can get a walking tour map online that is worth following.

We wanted to eat at Burger Queen but they were closed for the Memorial Day holiday.
