We wanted a relaxing cruise with a luxury cruise line and the opportunity to explore a portion of Alaska while enjoying fantastic scenery. We were not disappointed. The embarkation and disembarkation were incredibly well organized. Our penthouse suite (1014) and our butler (Irfan) were simply fabulous. The room was quite spacious with a wonderful balcony. The amenities were first rate and every detail seemed to be taken care (high end toiletries, walk in closet, binoculars etc). We eventually visited every dining venue on the ship. Prime 7 (steakhouse) and Signatures (French) both required reservations. Some reservations were made ahead of time and some during the cruise. Both restaurants were fabulous. Food was very above average...not necessarily the best I've ever had in my life, but definitely 5-star! We often considered upgrading to a higher end wine (for a price) but time and time again realized that the included wines (too many to list but excellent Chardonnay, Gavi di Gavi, Bordeaux, Chianti Reserve etc) were simply fantastic already. We enjoyed the numerous bars, lounges etc. A few times they got a bit busy, but we were able to get a drink by approaching the bar staff or going to the bar...in general though the bar staff did a fabulous job. We thought the shows (magician, dancers, singers) were simply awesome. The food choices and drink opportunities were endless and we never really found ourselves disappointed with any of the options. In Ketchikan we did the lumberjack show excursion. It was entertaining and quite funny. I'm glad it was free however. We also did the Cruise/crab feast excursion in Ketchikan. We were able to see bald eagles up close and eat more crab legs than we ever had in our lives. All part of the free excursion. In Juneau we did two separate excursions. The first was the complimentary glacier visit. We had 1 1/2 at the glacier which was enough time to hike to the waterfall (highly recommended). A single hour at the falls isn't enough time to accomplish this. Our second excursion was the $169 (?) whale watching in the evening. We choice this because it allowed us to do two unrushed excursions. The company that did this excursion was excellent. Professional and interesting with some food and drink provided.

There were two disappointments with this particular cruise. 1. We couldn't cruise Tracy Arm due to the presence of ice burgs. Though another scenic "fjord" was selected instead. 2. We couldnt dock at Victoria due to high winds. Though disappointing, I saw both of these decisions as safety related and thus didn't "downgrade" Regent accordingly. We did this cruise with two other older (mid to late 50s) couples. We all generally agreed that the cruise was everything we could have wanted or hoped for. Negative comments related to petty things here and there but never rose to the level of disappointment for our experience as a whole. We are currently looking for another Regent Seven Seas cruise as we enjoyed this cruise line that much. I would definitely recommend them to my friends.
