EmbarkationWe arrived at Southampton at midday and the terminal was packed my advice get there early! We queued for roughly 20 mins to be checked in and then the systems went down thankfully we were quite near the front of the queue at this point, the queue was ridiculously long and some people would have had quite a wait! We were on board pretty much straight away once check in was completed and headed straight up to Ocean View Cafe on deck 14 for some lunch.DiningThe ocean view cafe had an amazing selection from Pizza to Salad, to Curry to fish and Chips something for everyone in all of our previous cruises we have never seen so much selection. We didn't have to queue once breakfast was the busiest time but we still managed to find a seat we just chose to sit outside. We had select dining and pre booked our times before hand which was great and worked really well for us. We ate one night in Murano which has a cover charge of $35 per person but on our opinion well worth it the food was fantastic I had lobster which was cooked in front of me and the service was very attentive. My only complaint of our whole cruise was on formal night the day started badly when we ordered room service for breakfast as our trip left early and our room service didn't arrive. Then on that same evening we were sat on a table which was practically in the entrance to the restaurant not at all private quite horrible I wish we had asked to be moved, and then I couldn't eat my main course because it was cold. I complained to the assistant Maitre D on the way out who from then on could not do enough for us, and the room service manager even came to find us at dinner the following evening to apologise. Cabin, Ship Features & EntertainmentOur cabin was great the largest balcony we have ever had and the chairs were very comfortable, the bathroom too was great large shower and nicely decorated as expected for a new 5 star ship. Entertainment was ok although the daytime entertainment was slightly lacking for our age group we thought. The solarium was lovely although as the weather wasn't good it was very busy and unfortunately we didn't get to use it. The shows were ok equally as good as we've seen on other ships but we wouldn't say they were better, the lawn area in our opinion is a bit of a waste of space and we didn't really see the point of the glass show. The glass show is interesting to watch but once you've seen it you've seen it so a bit of a wasted space, although after speaking to the assistant maitre d he told us the lawn area on the new ships was going to be utilized better for outside dining. We didn't like the fact that in the Sky Lounge people were allowed to smoke but watching dancing with the stripes was great fun anyway despite this. They often did food demonstrations and dance classes in the foyer we found this very bizarre as there wasn't enough room and it made it very difficult for everyone to see? I cant understand why they did this when they have a huge theatre and a big stage in the sky lounge?Overall we thought Celebrity were good but the little things as mentioned above stopped it from being great for us. The service was generally good very professional and all staff seemed quite friendly. I am gluten free and unfortunately they didn't handle my food allergies as well as P&O and Royal Caribbean did last year. In July we are sailing on Princess so it will be interesting to see how they compare as we haven't sailed on Princess for many years but we would definitely sail on Celebrity again she was a beautiful ship.
