Easy to get from the airport to city center on the local bus for those who prefer to. One is not bombarded by time share salesmen which is a nice relief. The cost of living on Barbados is high even tho' the currency is 2 for 1. Shopping by the pier is OK altho touristy. The city shops are a good walk away, but most of the walk is by the ocean on a nice path in the shade.

The sand is nice and white..the sea a beautiful shade of blue. English is spoken so getting anything is easy. There are many banks so getting cash from a bank ATM is easy.

St Georges

At anchor a long tender to shore...

Unfortunately our visit to this port coincided with a national holiday. Everything was closed. We walked to the city , looked at a few interesting government buildings and the old fort.

No activities were planned and it seemed the crew were unaware it was a holiday or what holiday it was.

Beautiful Caribbean Island and great weather, but the sea continues to be choppy so the tender was difficult.

At anchor...tender to the pier.

This was a 4 hour stop but there was not much to do here. We walked to the town, basically just took a look around and walked back. There were some planned trips to a park and a waterfall but we did not sign up.

This was a beautiful little Island...WE had heard this was the Island for model ship building so we set out to find the shops. We found 3 and yes , they do wonderful work. We watched and got a few tips on the kind of wood they use and the tools. Then we met the man that paints them. Since my husband is a wood carver this stop was particularly rewarding.
