Good place to just get off ship and roam around on your own. Excursions to interesting and fun places can be had. Shopping in downtown St. Thomas which in years past had been fun, was now a place were you were verbally attacked by people wanting you to enter a certain shop. I guess a sign of the enconmy!!! We spent a week in St. Thomas years ago, so we felt very comfortable finding our own way around.
Awesome island. Booked an all day excursion online which allowed us to see many sites. It was Rose & Jim's Taxi & Tour Service. They came highly reccomended and we had a great, great time.
We spent the day in the newly remodeled waterfront in St. Maarten. There are new piers for the cruise ships and no tenders are needed. New beaches in the downtown area allowed for relaxation after some shopping and lunch. We will return for an extended stay.
