"We found, however, that we could take a train to Cologne and it would get us there in 30 minutes, giving us a LOT more time in the city, including being able to see the Cathedral. The cruise time from the morning stop was about 4 hours, with not a lot to do on the ship...."Read More
My wife, Andrea and I had thought about this cruise just before Covid hit the US. Once the world was on lock down we kind of put the idea on the back burner and continued to think that someday we'd take the trip. That someday turned out to be this past November.
We started looking months before our trip and found a package that was discounted with the itinerary we wanted. A call to Viking ...
We picked this cruise because we wanted to travel down the Rhein River. This is a wonderful way to travel. THe weather was warmer than we expected but that actually made it better to sit outside. The crew were so attentive and organized. The food was wonderful and not overdone. At each stop we were greeted by "tour guides". Some of course were better than others, but in general they all did ...
Been on many Viking river cruises and things have gone down such as food. Just disappointed also with some of the behaviors of passengers. Not your typical river cruise. It just has changed from even 2019. Maybe cutting corners after Covid. Crew was great as always. Some of the regular excursions such as Heidelberg are know paid excursions. Jeans t shirts and flip flops in dining room which was ...
Thank you for providing us with a detailed account of your recent voyage, gsanta. Your feedback is highly valued as it helps us gain insights into how we can enhance our services to deliver...
Cruise was relaxing, embarkation was a very easy process, as was disembarkation. The pick up process at the airport was quite smooth. Our stateroom was a bit cramped compared to ocean cruises, not much room to move around the bed and no chair in the room to sit on. Food quality was not what we expected, it definitely has room for improvement. Most was very bland at lunch and dinner. Breakfast ...
We chose this cruise because it was our first time in Europe. The itinerary was approachable and ports were closer to us than the Danube options.
Pros:
Great food almost every day
A different port every day
Service was exceptional - truly everyone on the ship was engaged to make sure you are having a great time
Once onboard, information is readily available and they're always ...
The itinerary and ports of Rhine cruise appealed to us the most. Our expectations were met and exceeded. The included excursions were all very informative and interesting, and the guides that we had were very good. I did two optional tours, the Marksburg Castle and the Colmar WWII museum and battle site. Both were very much worth the additional charge.
The ship was always spotless and the whole ...
We have been on large ocean cruises. This Viking river cruise experience is a game changer. There is a new level of guest experience when you have 184 guests served by 42 crew. In a week you feel like you know everyone from captain to cabin.
The ports were wonderful. Some we could have spent more time in, but that tells us we just want to go back.
The food was exceptional. The choices ...
Viking was highly recommended by friends who have been on multiple Viking cruises. The pre-cruise extension in Amsterdam was fun. The the hotel was beautiful, in a good location and the Viking hosts in the lobby were very helpful. Our Rhine River cruise lived up to what we were told in every aspect. The rooms were very nice with great bedding, heated bathroom floors and well cared for by Maria. ...
We chose Viking Amsterdam to Basel river cruise for two reasons - excellent reviews, and scheduling. We had a fixed time when we wanted to leave, and Viking had the best schedule that fit our needs. From the moment we arrived at the Amsterdam port with our luggage we experienced their great hospitality. Our luggage disappeared (greatfully) and we were assisted in boarding.
My wife had to walk ...
Great itinerary, wonderful service and lovely included tours on each port of call. We enjoyed the diversity of the other tour options offered and found the enduring history of Holland and Belgium fascinating. Amsterdam was a highlight of the cruise and has so much to see and do. However, it is an easy city to walk or take public transport. We really enjoyed the Cheese making excursion in Edam and ...
