My husband and I chose this Azamara Journey West Africa cruise starting on 4th March 2023 from Cape Town to Walvis Bay Namibia, Luanda Angola, Takoradi Ghana, Ivory Coast, The Gambia, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Madeira and Lisbon on account of the stops in the African ports. We have sailed a lot with other cruise companies like Holland America, Princess, Celebrity and Norwegian but this was our ...

Pre-Cruise - 3 destinations changed with no reduction in price. Complained to Azamara before we set off and were only given $300 onboard credit as compensation. Check-In - Some sort of IT failure meant we couldn’t check in for 3 hrs. When IT system came back, even though we’d checked in online pre-cruise, the process of checking paperwork and taking photos etc. took a long time. No drinks, even ...

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Azamara Journey

Overall 5/5. We did not expect the Canary Islands itinerary to be the most interesting, as we have stayed on most of the islands before, but it was just great to be travelling again and we enjoyed it more than we expected to. Our first cruise with Azamara and one of our favourite ships to date. It was our 26th cruise. We considered staying onboard for the next leg of the cruise, but it was doing ...

We choose this cruise because our country (the Netherlands) were in lockdown and the Canary Island not. And because we had heard that Azamara has a high standard of cruising. And indeed they have. We were pampered all the way with an excellent service, very good food, a cozy atmosphere and easy contacts with fellow passengers. We were lucky to have only 231 passengers on board (instead of the ...

Amazing cruise from Lisbon to Rio!

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Azamara Pursuit

This our second time on Azamara and it definitely won't be our last. I have never been on a cruise where the staff and crew, from the Captain down to the young man cleaning the stairs, are so friendly. Having the Hotel Manager, the Cruise Director and assistant and others waving goodbye as we were disembarking was wonderful. It was as if we were valued friends who they couldn't bear to part ...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Azamara Pursuit

My wife and I have been cruising for several year - often 3 cruises per year - but had not yet tried an upscale cruise like Azamara. The first thing that we noticed, not surprisingly, was that the Pursuit was not quite as large as the other cruise ships we had taken previously. Next we noticed that the crew seemed to be more friendly than on other, larger ships. We subsequently determined ...

This was our 9th cruise with Azamara, but our first ever transatlantic and our first cruise on the Pursuit. We chose it because we love sea days, but it also had 6 ports of call, so a good combination. We had a couple of nights in Lisbon before the cruise and were really pleased that we had done so, there’s so much to see and do. We booked the Holiday Inn Express Avenida de Liberdade mainly ...

Disappointed

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Azamara Journey

Maybe my expectations were too high. Having cruised Oceania and Regent as well as many other lines, I was under the impression Azamara was 6 star. Embarkation and disembarkation were efficient and painless The staff were lovely, and very helpful , trying to sort out problems they didnt have the resources to. The entertainment was very limited, a guitarist, a pianist, the evening shows. ...

First Timers on Azamara

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Azamara Journey

First timers on Azamara, have earlier cruised with Celebrity and RCCL and this is the smallest cruise ship we have been on. Embarkation: We arrived at 13:45 to the port. The embarkation was very smooth, no lines and it took just 10 minutes until we got on board. The state room was ready at 14:00 and the bags arrived soon after that. Ship and cabin: Over all very good maintained, of course ...
