The only ship of this capability and what an opportunity so we had to take advantage of it. The following describes the actual experience we had. Flight from Paris We were offered the opportunity to pay to upgrade to business class and accepted it, the flight was supposed to leave at 10 a.m. but we did not leave the terminal, on a bus, to the plane until after 10:05. We had to carry ...

We have travelled with Hurtigruten before (MS Spitsbergen Norwegian coast) but this was sooo much better. We boarded in Reykjavik and it was a little chaotic - a free for all. We were in an Expedition Suite (ME class) which was lovely. Bed was very comfortable, as were the chairs. There was a minibar fridge which was stocked with soft drinks and beers, 4 bottles of wine and jars of nuts. These ...

Hurtigruten - Cruising Norway’s Coast - msNordNorge Described as The World’s Most Beautiful Voyage. 4963 km return. 11 days hurtigruten.com. Norway uses credit cards a lot! I took the equivalent of $200 Cdn and was fine. Insert your credit card into the machine and enter your pin the FIRST time you use your card. Then you’re safe to tap away! Ship only uses your cabin card for payment. ...

Large ship cruising on a smaller scale

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Le Bellot

We enjoy small ship cruising and desired to try a ship/cruise line new to us and we’re taken with starting on the Thames. The ship is new. The physical plant is excellent. The excursions are average to excellent depending on the sites and guides. We had two average and one excellent guide on at three excellent sites. The food is average. The service is impersonal. Waitstaff’s English is spotty at ...

Ship is nice and comfortable

We chose hurtigruten cruise because of the destination - Iceland, and past experience with Norwegian coastal voyage. Unfortunately, while the ship is great, our outside cabin is specious with lots of storage, the human component is the Disaster! Starting with the ship docking in the different port from what we have been advised by hurtigruten. Hurtigruten made no attempt to contact anyone ...

Fantastic Ship if money is no object

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Le Commandant Charcot

I notice that none of the other reviews talk about money. I'm therefore assuming this ship and itineraries are for people seeking to explore certain destinations and will pay whatever it takes to do so. In that case I would echo the other excellent reviews. However, almost everyone I spoke to on this 2 day ship visit, said that they had a great time, but they really had to think about if ...

I really can’t remember why I chose to cruise round the Outer Hebrides in April (the trip had been postponed for a couple of years due to the Covid epidemic) and I realised it was a mad decision on reading previous CC reviews BUT we were very lucky and had excellent weather. This meant that we missed only one landing on Iona. I think the company have learnt from previous reviews and have ...

We wanted to see the Norwegian Coastline during the winter season and also the Northern lights.. This cruise didn't disappoint us. We took the Richard With from Bergen to Kirkenes. It was a stunning trip Mountains covered in ice, villages dotted along the coastline half submerged in ice. Constant snow falling. It was so magical. We had a Mini suite with a full window. we could lie in bed ...

An Honest Appraisal of Hurtigruten Coastal Express & the MS Nordnorge

First Time Cruiser • Age 60s

Just completed the 7-day Northbound journey from Bergen to Kirkenses (sort of…more on that later). We did this trip in winter in the hopes of seeing the Aurora Borealis. This trip exceeded our expectations in every way. First, our expectations: It’s a working supply ship, so…rustic, probably dated, not necessarily the most comfortable ship, possibly loud during loading/unloading, boring (very ...

This cruise was absolutely fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful. The expeditions were super well organised and extremely interesting. The expedition crew were so knowledgeable, informative, funny and inspiring! Best science lessons I have ever experienced! Field trips are so exciting - for any age! The underwater drone was fascinating especially when looking at shipwrecks and the sea ...
