We were first time cruisers and picked this line based on itinerary, ratings, and prices. It was a Danuberiver cruise in mid to late October (luckily the weather was very warm for that time of the year with almost no rain). We were not disappointed. An excellent cruise to enjoy.
All facilities excellent.
Staff excellent .
This cruise is seriously tops.
The staff were helpful and not over intrusive. It is difficult for staff to provide just the correct amount of friendliness without being invasive. The staff on board Emerald Dawn were excellent. They provided us with a wonderful experience.

We did the Splendours of Europe cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. Originally to be on Emerald Sky but changed to Emerald Dawn due to the lock issue near Nuremburg. The arrival on the ship was seamless and all the staff were so gracious and helpful. We were booked on the Emerald Dawn but the ship was changed to the Emerald Sun. The central problem was noise from above at all hours of the night. The toilets on the ship were of an airline design. We were on the second level, and had to endure the explosive sound of the toilet from the cabin above throughout the night. We were awakened many times during the night, even when using earplugs. ...

We've been on ocean cruises before but this is so much better since you can see the countryside as you're sailing.
Budapest was a great starting point, we spent a couple of days ahead and enjoyed it...so different than we expected and the city is certainly the highlight of the Danube. We especially loved the night cruise.

Arrived in Budapest the day before the cruise so would be fresh for the first day on board. My driver was at the airport on time and transferred me to the Marriott Hotel. My sister and I decided to go with evergreen (emerald waterways) as it is the cheaper sister company of scenic. Very similar itineraries etc, however at a more affordable price.
