We chose this cruise as it would take us to places we have not been too, or places we would have never gone too. The scenery from the ship was mostly farmland and forest, but once on land there were many wonderful things to see. Food was very good, and the portions were smaller so you never left the table stuffed.
The wait staff was excellent.
My only concern was by day 4 people were ...
First the good aspects of the cruise. The ship was modern and comfortable. Our Cabin was small but adequate. All of the areas were very well kept. The crew were very friendly and accommodating. The tours were very well organized and informative.
On the negative side the embarkation from Munich was awful. We were staying in Munich and told to meet at 11 am at the airport to catch the bus ...
Maybe we have high expectations? I just don't understand how so many people can say "Fantastic, Wonderful, Amazing" In my experience there is always room to improve. On our cruise we had "lock" problems so were unable to reach our last port of call and were transferred via bus. Made for a very long and uncomfortable day. In general the ports we visited were nice, but I wouldn't be interested ...
Recently travelled with Emerald from Budapest to Amsterdam. I went to Budapest a couple of days early, and stayed on the ship the first night. We did a tour of Budapest from the ship, as well as an evening cruise on the Danube. The ship itself was modern, with good facilities. Shore excursions were well organised, and the tours hit all the highlights. Options offered were good. On board ...
Lovely ship and so clean.. Sadly on the first evening for dinner it was a right " shambles ". Didn't know where to que for what and then couldn't fine a place to sit. Should have had staff to help sort it out. Also on many evenings at dinner ,when you needed another glass of wine the staff didn't seem to notice . But, other than that ,, it was lovely. The ports of call were great and loved the day ...
We are very frequent cruisers (50+ ocean cruises) but we recently took our first ever river cruise aboard the Emerald Sun travelling from Budapest to Nuremberg. The holiday didn't start off well with the airline (KLM) arranged by Emerald cancelling the outgoing flights due to 'high winds' whereby instead of arriving at the ship at lunchtime it was after 6.00 pm we eventually arrived. Despite ...
We chose this cruise as it traveled through Eastern Europe to countries which we haven't visited before.
Found the layout of the ship. especially the lounge with bar in the center rather than at the end not very satisfactory as not everyone could see the entertainment. It was not possible to watch the entertainment in the cabin although it was supposed to be available.
Also the outside ...
River cruising is just wonderful and whilst some aspects of the emerald sky cruise were great it wasnt always 5 star service and some of the trips/entertainments were changed. The ship itself is lovely and the views amazing from the balcony room but we were often docked against the Viking cruise or other so there was no view all day. The bar staff were the worst disappointment as they often seemed ...
This cruise was chosen because it was one way ie from Budapest to Nuremberg. We had a horrendous journey out thanks to British Airways leaving 27 bags off the flight that all appeared to be Emerald Waterways customers. One bag arrived on the following flight, the other arriving to the ship at about midnight.
The ship was not the one on the schedule allegedly because of the tides. but somehow ...
Frequent sea cruisers but had never tried a river journey before and the Danube seemed a good place to start. I spoke with our usual very helpful Agent with a specific company in mind and she recommended Emerald as a better all round option.
What they did well:
Transfers, Shore Excursions, House Keeping. Breakfast buffet. All hands on deck for a non scheduled disembarkation due to all the ...
