1-10 of 23 Budapest Uniworld S.S. Maria Theresa Cruise Reviews
My husband and I chose this cruise because of the itinerary on the Danube from Budapest to Passau, Germany and we chose Uniworld on the advice of a few friends. We liked the idea of an all inclusive trip, we've been on a few ocean cruises where that was not the case.
We booked the Uniworld add-on of two nights in Budapest before embarking on our cruise. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised ...
I'm going to break my review into some basic areas that really are the things most folks look for on river cruise. The Tours, Food, Accommodations, Ambiance and staff. Let me start with the easiest first...Staff.
Staff: Uniworld certainly knows what it's doing when it comes to hiring the "best of the best" as we found each and every person on board to be kind, engaging, fun, service oriented ...
Uniworld is a top rated line. Called just two days before leaving for Budapest to check water levels and was told that all was great and we were "assured" that there would be no problem for our embarkation on 9/23. Not so! Got an email in the wee hours of the morning the day before telling us that the ship was in Vienna and we would have to stay in Budapest an extra night, because of low water ...
We did a Uniworld cruise on the Douro about 5 years ago which we enjoyed. However, my husband was not anxious to do another for a variety of reasons. But I have always wanted to go to Budapest and Prague and a river cruise made the most sense. The photos of the ship on line made it seem like it was way too ornate and "frilly" so I kept my husband focused on the places and excursions. But I have ...
Took this trip as a Christmas Market trip- Uniworld delivered. However, I would do the Danube River again and make sure we took in more of the historical parts of the cities - we missed out on that - to be fair we booked a Christmas Market trip - so it wasn't a Uniworld thing.
Cities are amazing.
Ship is spectacular. Clean, beautiful, crew was friendly and helpful.
We found we had ...
Arriving at the ship, AMG had a lovely canopy and were taking the cases of their passengers, we had no one, took our own case to a row of cases then embarked. A sad first impression for 6 star, especially when the competition is doing more for their guests.
Having seen the ship featured on a TV documentary we were excited to book and try our first river cruise, as seasoned ocean liner ...
My first cruise and everything was wonderful. The accommodations, crew, food and excursions were all first class! Uniworld obviously put a lot of thought into this ship and the crew is well trained in customer service. Never had an issue with the crew, the food or the ship. The cruise offered a variety of excursions and each was well organized and fun. I would not hesitate to recommend this cruise ...
I had heard this was a concierge cruise, but it turned out to be a floating infirmary.
This was our first river cruise ever. We booked the Budapest to Amsterdam, August 25 – September 11, 2016, dates along with the pre and post cruise extensions tours.
Though we found the rates for the 2-day extensions tours high, $600 per person in Budapest and $960 per person in Amsterdam, we expected ...
We have done several ocean cruises but this is the first river cruise, so our comparison point is not with other river cruises.
We had a very enjoyable time overall. The smaller ship (~150) was cozy and let the staff be more flexible in arrangements.
The ship facilities were good overall. The excursions were great. The quietvox system they used was really useful.
For the biking ...
We wanted to experience Eastern Europe, not having been there before, and chose an 8 day cruise between Budapest and Passau. The shore excursions were informative without being great and we sometimes had only brief periods to explore the cities/towns on our own. Our on board experience was mostly good and all the crew were ultra-attentive and always helpful. The restaurant service was impeccable ...
