This was our first-ever river cruise experience. We did a lot of research and watched a lot of videos about the experience so we felt pretty well prepared for the trip. What we found is most people's pros/cons experiences were pretty consistent with ours. Knowing what we know now we also would have planned our trip differently. I'll explain.
This journey started in Budapest with one night ...
We started in Budapest and ended in Passau. Loved Budapest. Visited the white raven sky bar in the Hilton. Such great views Need reservations even for a drink only. Ship was clean and comfortable. Staff were so friendly and they treat you like family. Enjoy day time sailings to enjoy the views from balcony or top deck. Concert in Vienna was above my expectations. Enjoy the excursions be ...
We went on the Embla for our 30th Anniversary. I really liked the River Cruise because it was adults only, the food was really good, the staff was friendly, you make new friendships and get to see parts of the world you have never seen before. We would go to sleep and wake up in a new place.
I would suggest paying extra for the Cesky Kumlov on foot tour. It is a beautiful village with quaint ...
We chose Viking because everyone we had talked to that had been on a Viking river cruise said it was the best sailing experience they had ever had. Add us to the list of those who will recommend Viking to anyone that asks. The included excursions were well organized and provided insights into the history and current highlights of the port we were in. The one suggestion would be to time the ...
The staff was great. The food was great. The tours were great. The room was good except for the temperature being either freezing or burning alive hot and water pooling on the balcony (no drain hole on edge).
Unfortunately 5 out of 6 in our group contracted Covid19. Looking back there was lots of people coughing and talk about a lot of people having chest congestion. Needless to say this put a ...
I chose this cruise as I wanted to try a river cruise on Viking. They were having a sale and the price was right. I loved the ship, the cruise line, the ports, the service, etc. The weather was ok, warm at the onset, some days of rain but I expected that and there is no way to prevent that. The room was spacious and well appointed. The meals were excellent. The ship was beautiful. I really ...
I had always wanted to go on a Viking cruise after listening to many of my friends who had previously travelled on Viking. The Danube voyage did not disappoint. Budapest was much lovelier than I had expected. Each of the tours, be it Budapest, Bratislava, Wien, Krems, or Linz was conducted with professionalism and very informative. I appreciated the fact that each tour was rated as to the ...
We departed Phoenix,AZ on July 12, 2022, bound for a Viking Grand European River Cruise boarding in Budapest, Hungry on the Viking Aegir. We are very experienced cruisers with 9 Viking cruises for myself and 12 for my spouse. Upon arrival we were greeted by Viking representative at the Budapest airport and boarded a bus telling us they had called the ship, and someone would be there to greet us. ...
We appreciate you taking the time to detail your experience, DesertDweller1, as feedback such as this allows us to improve. Thank you also for taking the time to recognize your hardworking...
As we discovered on our other Viking cruise (Tulips snd Windmills), Viking really does pay amazing attention to every detail and just does an excellent job. Service - terrific! Food - scrumptious and plenty of it! Wines - excellent, and fun to try local vintages. A highlight? There are so many to talk about. Budepest was a revelation - we just loved the city and its people. Melk Abbey was ...
This is the end of the Embla saga - on arrival at the Embla in Budapest on 11 September 2019 we were confronted by a vessel with an odd large boxed item next to the bridge. Wondering why it was there and how it would survive low bridges unless it could be lowered and raised like the captain’s bridge, we went to our cabin where we found the 06 September 2019 letter – not good timing on Viking's ...
