Entry level cruise, nothing overly good or bad

Review for Carnival Elation to Bahamas

First Time Cruiser • Age 40s

We planned a 5 day trip to Disney and decided to take a cruise. Family of 5. My husband 40, myself 40, daughter 19, son 14, and youngest daughter 8. I had no preconceived thoughts. My first cruise. I would have rather just take the money spent on this cause and booked a week long vacation at Destin, FL. The room was spacious and it accommodated us just fine. We really enjoyed our private balcony. ...

Take the ship out of rotation

We were 1st time cruisers and chose this one because of the short length incase we didnt like it. We left 3 hours late from the port because the crew was still loading supplies. Then as we shoved off the was a medical emergency and had to go back. Then the boat couldn't get up to cruising speed and we were in rough waters. You felt every wave as we were only going 10-11 knots, we were told ...

I chose this particular cruise for the stops in Grand Turk and Amber Cove, and was not disappointed! Embarkation was smooth, fast, and well organized. Because our transportation got us to the port earlier that the time I signed up to board, I was afraid I would have to wait until my designated time but we got right on the boat with no issues or delays. We had Faster to the Fun, which is ...

Ship really needs a designer that knows fun

This was my second time on the Elation, first was pre-2017 upgrades. Pros: Great crew, lots of potential for entertainment. Our stateroom (on G deck) was great. Embarkation at Port Canaveral is the smoothest I've been through. Some of the restaurants were good. Guys burgers is you get a burger on a bun and then build it yourself. Really nothing special, but still decent. The Taco ...

We chose this cruise because the family took our mother-in-law who is 88 on a cruise. She did not want to be gone for more than 5 days. Rist was everywhere on the ship, this was a bit disconcerting. There was only one good entertainment, the violin players, Isabel and Juan. The Piano Bar singer was the worst. The dancers tried and did a good job with what they had to work with. The theatre had ...

First of all, any of us that can go on ANY cruise need to get on their knees and thank God we can do so. That being said, this cruise on the Elation in early January was a nice little "entry level" cruise. Honestly if you've never cruised, you'll probably like it. I found it lacking in a lot of areas, but honestly, for the money, it was a good value and that's what we were looking for. The ...

An outstanding cruise on one of the older ships

My wife and I sailed on the Elation for the December 14th-19th Amber Cove/Grand Turk cruise. We are from SC, and booked a night at the Radisson Resort at the Port for the evening before the cruise. Had planned to park at the port, but instead opted to park at the cruise parking lot at the hotel. The hotel staff was very competent, parking was a breeze, and the shuttle service was excellent. ...

Ports of call made up for the ship

The positive is that the ports of call we loved ... Amber cove and Grand Turk. Our cabin we had was a grand suite u98 . Room was clean and comfortable. Out cabin Stewart was great along with the dining staff . On the down side. Food on buffet was fair at best. Terrible selection. Dining room was hit or miss. 2 nights paid for an upgrade for surf and turf. One was good. The other was half the ...

Our second cruise on the Elation

Since our first cruise on the Elation, they have updated it to include the water park on top. The updates were very nice and we enjoyed Guys Burger as well as the other eating places that were added. On our first trip on the Elation as well as this one we did experience a lot of roughness as far as the sailing was concerned. Not sure if it was the ship or the water since the only times we've ...

Disappointed

My husband and I cruised this ship 09/30 until 10/5 what an disappointment. Our intention with booking was finding an Itinerary that did not port in Nassau. This seemed to do just that. However on our way to Amber cove the captain announced there were mechanical issues with the ship that had to do with the speed and would not be able to stop in Amber cove but would port in Nassau. Passengers ...
