Great scenery but Celebrity delivers less!!!

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

This was our third cruise on this ship. We have done two trips from Sydney to New Zealand this being our first to Alaska. Due to two cruise ships being in port we waited longer than normal to get onto the Solstice. She still looks good and beautifully clean. Staff are very friendly but we found some of the European staff a bit cold. Only used tha main dinning room once as the wife and I contracted ...

Somewhat over rated

Overrated Inside passage from Seattle. Nice scenery from our balcony but you are never going to get an Alaskan experience without buying pricey shore excursions. Most everything in Katachan, Juneau and Skagway is either owned or controlled by the cruise lines. Everything seemed orchestrated and phoney. That being said the ship was beautiful, comfortable and clean but the food was only average. If ...

First Trip on Celebrity Cruise Line

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

This was our first cruise on Celebrity, and the third Alaska inside passage cruise. We booked Celebrity because we were told by several people that Celebrity was a "step up" from some other lines. The ship itself was very clean and orderly. I will say that 95% of the crew was very helpful and friendly. The main dining room is certainly nothing special. No better than our previous trips on Princess ...

Beautiful Ship, Great Dtaff, Disappointing Cruise

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We had several disappointments during this cruise. Some Celebrity had control of and some they did not. Our first disappointment was re our cabins. We booked 3 cabins in Oct 2014 for travel in Aug 2015. We could not get adjoining cabins on the side of the ship that we wanted. We were told by our travel agent and Celebrity that if the adjoining cabin between 2 of ours became available that 1 ...

Very Disappointed; Not Upscale

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We were told that Celebrity Cruise Line was an upscale cruise line but we did not find that to be the case. The ship was nice enough but the service was no existent! The dining room service was very good….but not any better than RCCL. The food wasn't any better than RCCL although I will say the buffet was very nice. We were at the pool and hot tubs several times and not one time did a staff ...

Solstice Service Very Disappointing!

There were 8 of us on the Solstice for the week. The ship itself is beautiful and kept very clean. All the public restrooms were constantly being cleaned. The food was good….not excellent. The service in the dining room was very good like we have gotten on Royal Caribbean. Food was not any better. The food in the Oceanview was good as well. They kept the buffet stations tidy and the ...

Standards are dropping.

Our 3rd cruise on Celebrity but sadly probably our last. Standards are certainly dropping over the periods we have travelled on this line. Embarkation was Just OK, kind of an organised chaos but once on the ship everything was open and running smoothly. To cut out all the bring yada yada I will highlight the best and worst things. Best.... Our cabin stewards were as usual excellent, ...

Disappointed in Celebrity

Most significant disappointment was quality of food. Main dining room food was very much below expectation or experience on other cruises we have done ( almost all other lines including Holland, Royal Carribean, NCL and Carnival). Dry overcooked pork chop, bad piece of salmon, veal chop that was marbled with fat and overcooked, dry, tough steak, cordon blue that was so dry no cheese left in the ...

Ship shakes badly

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We enjoyed this cruise but something that almost ruined it for us was the ship's shaking. Especially when using front thrusters. We thought something was going to break! Our drinks in the Sky lounge were shaking off the table. A bent prop or something and I feared for the safety of the ship. I know this is not normal because I didn't experience this anywhere else. The Oceanview Cafe for some ...

We have about 40 cruises total, we love to cruise. We usually don’t comment on the cruises as everyone interprets a cruise in their own way. But when it could impact others …….we like to speak up . Hey no ship is perfect but easy things to fix should be fixed!!! Cruise – Celebrity Solstice from Seattle – Alaska - and back to Seattle - Embarkation and Disembarkation relatively easy and better then ...
