We chose this Alaska Cruise to celebrate a birthday, 10 adults. The itinerary was really good. My complaints about this ship is mainly 2 things.
1. Compared to other cruises, there was always up-selling. Everyone from the ship that we came into contact with during the first 2 days were asking us if we wanted a drink package or to make a reservation at a specialty restaurant. This was really ...
Alaska was never a destination I wanted to cruise however my family wanted to. so away we go. This cruise left from Seattle, which was a let down as a city, lots of homeless on the streets, didn't feel safe and very expensive, hotel over $300 a night and we stayed near airport, city hotels much more expensive.
embarkation was pretty much a breeze easy on ship. We enjoyed Elite status because of ...
This is the 3rd cruise to Alaska on the Celebrity Line. 1st one was on the Century, 2nd on the Infinity and this one on the Solstice. The best of them was the Century. Truly an elegant ship. I've been told It's been sold to China. The past cruises have been truly wonderful and to be fair, for the most part this was a good trip. My truly "you've got to be kidding," occurred on our sail up ...
My family and I were invited on this cruise by my cousin who wanted to celebrate her retirement later on this year. I was a part of the younger group of my family so of course we had different experience than the older part. Embarkation was a breeze and everyone we encountered from the airport to the ship were super friendly. The ship is very, very large yet the cabins are the complete opposite. ...
This was our 3rd sailing with Celebrity.
Don't get me wrong, Alaska was AMAZING. The passage thru Endecott fjord and the Dawes glacier was a true Experience. The ship got very close to the glacier and Captain Tasos made sure everyone got a good view from their balcony, regardless what side of the ship you were on.
If it hadn't been for Captain Tasos and Steve, the cruise director, I might ...
It was a mixed bag for us:
We were in concierge class and for the first time in 9 cruises I can say our room steward was not up to par. Our room was actually dirty (coffee stains, clumps of hair, the last guest's medicine bag, stains in the bathroom) when we arrived and that set the tone for the rest of the cruise. We were also surrounded by kids screaming, slamming doors and running up and ...
The pros, clean ship. Staff constantly cleaning and organizing public area bathrooms very nice and clean. Captain Tasso is cool and safe and the crew does a great job navigating and keeping us safe.
I traveled in concierge class. State room attendant poor English and hard to communicate , they make a big deal of the pillow menu and then they can't get the pillows, I'm allergic to down and it ...
I have cruised on two other cruise lines and decided to try Celebrity this time. Some parts of the experience were impressive and others very disappointing. The embarkation process was smooth, but lengthy. We were not informed of a specialized embarkation time until two weeks prior to the cruise. As transportation to Seattle was booked far in advance, that left many passengers checking in ...
We chose this destination because my niece had never been up to Alaska. I've enjoyed it for many years. I've cruised on many lines & previously on the Constellation (out of Dover, UK), Infinity and Millenium in recent years. Their brand image strategy has changed from trying to capture cruisers from Cunard, Seabourn or Silver Seas lines to maybe just trying to attract new cruisers in their ...
My second time to Alaska, the first being on RCCL Radiance of the Seas in 2001. First time on Celebrity. Very few kids (schools back in most places)-ship was sold out. Since kiddo grown, decided to give X a try. Service was good for most part. Stateroom attendant and dining room staff outstanding. Guest relations - not so much. Entertainment was good, food was not as good as I expected. ...
