Alaska Is Spectacular; Solstice Not So Much

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

To preface, we were on the 8/19 Seven Night Alaska Cruise. I was with my family (parents are in 50s, 2 children in 20s). This was our second cruise ever, the first being a six night Caribbean cruise with NCL. We were in an Aqua Class cabin which gave us access to Blu (the AquaClass restaurant) and some other amenities which seemed inconsequential in hindsight. Embarkation was very easy. Because ...

We love cruising, but this was not our favorite.

We wanted to return to Alaska 32 years after our previous cruise. Ship was acceptable, a little worse for wear. Dining was disappointing, especially the specialty restaurants. Bars were adequate, and Martini Bar was a great show. We only went to one production show and it was good. Cruise Director was unfunny. Despite advance notices, the captain was also unfunny and difficult to understand. ...

We wanted to go to Alaska from Seattle and have enjoyed our last 3 Celebrity cruises. Getting on the ship was a breeze and it was helpful to have concierge status. The ship is beautiful, the staff was great but food and entertainment have taken a big dip. Also, the Oceanview cafe on deck 14 smelled badly. My guess is years of spilled milk on the carpets. I admit that we have quite a few ...

we had cruise with Celebrity to Alaska before and it was so good we decided to go again with family. The solistice was a disappointment, It is very much in need of a refurbishment, there was signs of wear all over. Our cabin was poorly attended to, in spite of tipping the room staff early in our trip. Beds not made properly, bathrooms not cleaned. We could not make a special reservation ...

I have always wanted to see Alaska. I had been on one cruise before (San Diego-Ensenada) with Carnival years ago and said, "never again". Well, I can honestly say, "Never again" for sure this time. I guess I am not a cruiser. The ship was nice, our room was very comfortable. It was always cleaned every time we left the room. (although I never knew who our cabin steward really was). The ...

We embarked at pier 91. Our car arrived at the port at 11:00 am but there was a long line of towncars so we were not able to get to the pier until 11:25. (Cabs get to bypass this line, so you may want to try that instead of a towncar.) Once we were through the port authority, getting onto the ship was extremely easy. All areas of the ship were very clean. We were happy with the food, service, ...

We chose this cruise because friends were also going. EMBARKATION went very smooth. We waited until later in the afternoon to board and the line was short and fast. DISEMBARKATION was fast. It was my husband, myself and our 8 year old. We each had 1 carry on and left the ship at 7:30am with our bags in hand. THE SHIP furnishings have some wear and tear, cloth covered furniture was a little ...
