Somewhat disappointed

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We were told that celebrity was a step up from royal carribbean but quickly found that to not be true, at least on this cruise. The ship itself was nice and the room was great but the decor of the ship was quite bland. Our main disappointment was the food in the buffet and dining room. The setup was also very illogical. You would find silverware, bowls, condiments and other things not where you ...

Celebrity Solstice Alaskan Cruise

Embarkation in Seattle went as smoothly as could be expected. The room was ready promptly and was what I expected. It was worth the money for a veranda for an Alaska cruise because we had great scenery every day except for one sea day. This was our first time with a balcony, and the fresh air was wonderful and relaxing. However, at times there was much confusion. First about from which pier the ...

Disappointed in service

We had sailed RC in the past, and have received superb service in the MDR on their ships. We were expecting on the Solstice, at the very least, the same level of service as we had received from RC. We were in Aqua Class (A1), and found the Solstice to be very well appointed and absolutely gorgeous. The Aqua Class rooms were also very well appointed and quite spacious. The first night in the MDR ...

Fun cruise but the food greatly disappointed

This was our first luxury cruise. We are relatively new cruisers (only having gone on 2 prior cruises, both on Carnival). Based on what we read both from the experts and member ratings I must admit, my expectations were high. These were our impressions. The room: I loved the bathroom with its shower doors (yea, no curtain!) and the pretty tile backsplash. I also thought the room was very nice ...

Shocked by the service and attitude of the dining staff!

Each year since 2000 we have taken a cruise with my husband's brother and his wife. While we cruised on Princess line once and Carnival once all our other cruises have been on Royal Caribbean. All have been to warm weather ports except two others besides Alaska. We thought we needed a change of ships and weather this year and had heard great things about Royal Caribbean's sister line Celebrity. We ...

We had cruise on the Celebrity Galaxy years ago, and were just blown away by the excellence in detail to your dining experience. This time on the Solstice we ate at the Bistro and Oceanview Cafe most of the time. The dining experience (we used select dining) was awful. The wait staff was rushed and didn't even have time to refill our glasses of water or offer us drinks. The food was awful (having ...

5/24/13 Celebrity Solstice Alaskan Cruise ReviewBefore I get into the meat and potatoes of my review, let me provide a little background info and a small disclaimer for my family. We are a family of 3 (late 40’s couple and 16 year old daughter) hailing from Phoenix, AZ. Our cruising addiction started in 1997, which now encompasses 20 completed cruises. Up until this cruise, our entire cruise ...

Please read if you've been to 5 star hotels

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

This is my first cruise. My wife and I travel frequently and have stayed in several 5 star hotels. So, correctly or not, we had high expectations for this cruise and this ship given it's high rating. Boy were we disappointed. All 5 star ratings are not created equal, and you definitely do not want to compare this to a 5 star hotel. I will start with the negatives. First, the food. I would say the ...

Solstice Alaska- May 31

I have sailed many different lines including Norwegian, Disney, Carnival, and most often RCCL. This was our (2 adults, 2 children) first time on Celebrity. Solstice is a beautiful ship and definitely a step up in many regards. However, I found it lacking in entertainment and attitude of the servers and many of the patrons. This Celebrity ship obviously caters to an older age group. No rock walls, ...
