Good Transatlantic Cruise

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Costa Magica

We chose this cruise to get away from the Winter and have Christmas at sea Our Costa organised bus trip from our home town in Austria to Savona was smooth and punctual. Savona is a pleasant port, but as it was a bit chilly and windy, we elected to stay in the departure area Boarding was a little slow and Costa could improve communication to keep people informed Our cabin was ready and the ...

Except the itinerary there was no wow element in the ship experience

We have chosen the itinerary not the ship but as the agency recommended this ship as a 5 stars from Costa fleet I expected the best of it. Well unfortunately expectations were far too high compared to reality. First of all is not a 5 stars and if I take the quality of the cabin and restaurant grounds is not even 4, I would give it a maximum of 3. The whole ship looks like it would have been ...

We chose this cruise to join some friends on a vacation and the ship went to islands we had never been to before. This is the first time on a Costa cruise. I had read previous reviews about pushy people, etc., but we found all co-cruisers were good mannered people all enjoying vacation. The food was quite good at the evening dinner and buffets at breakfast and lunch. The ...

Pleasant Cruise

What we liked about the tour: • The room was an ideal size and the placement of the bed was nice so you could walk around it and could see out the window. • Lighting in the room was more than adequate, except bedside lamps are ineffective. • Not having to listen to the Tour Director or Captain deliver a message each day. • Being able to disembark freely shortly after the ship arrives ...

Excellent cruise on Costa Magica

We chose this cruise line/ship for the Italian style/language/culture having family from Italy. We have been on the Costa Victoria before and like it very much. Although cruise lines have cut back on some the features like full scale entertainment and midnight buffet, the overall experience is very good. I have read many poor reviews of Costa Magica but most the negatives are due to a ...

Not too good

Choose this cruise because of departure port. Been in Suites on NCL Royal Caribbean and Princess. Food whilst good was ruined by very poor service. Drinks were particularly slow to come. On one occasion I sent my main course back (after two previous courses I was still waiting for wine). Had to escalate issue to Maître De before obtaining any improvement. Same could have been said for bar service. ...

Disappointing First Timers' Cruise

Embarkation was slow and a little chaotic but bags were waiting at our cabin. Don't stay in 8312, we were disturbed by the constant scraping of chairs in the cafe above. Cabin kept immaculate by our steward, towels changed daily and beach/pool towels on request. Plenty of storage, surprisingly spacious and a large comfortable bed. Very few TV channels. Tatty balcony and scratched windows. Main ...

This was our 6th cruise. We cruised with two other companies before : Carnival and Princess which were great. This was our first Costa cruise and will definitely be the last. We were very disappointed with our cruise ship: the food was very poor with no buffet option in the evening (closed early in the afternoon with only a very limited salad bar and dry pizza in the evening). Food in the dining ...

our group... 2 adults and 3 kids (16,16 and 11) costa magica embarkation. Smooth as it can be during spring break. No problems. I was afraid of "the crowds" before we went (ship was fully booked) but was never overwhelmed by too many people being in line or so. Lounge chairs on deck. Yes we "reserved" them too by putting our stuff on them, but if you don't mind sitting on the quieter top decks ...

After having traveled with Costa in 2003 (Costa Victoria) my kids (then 13 and 11 years old, wanted Costa again. So we did it again, this time Costa Magica. No magic here. embarkation was very smooth and fast, the keys or embarkation card is now given at the cabin, no original picture is taken, as is done in other ship, security is quite lacking. Upon entering the ship, the atrium is impressive. ...
