Who goes on Star Cruises cruise ships?

The vast majority (as in more than 90 percent) of cruisers on Star Cruises are from Asia, including China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India and Thailand. A small percentage comes from Australia and New Zealand and an even smaller percentage from North America and the U.K. The line caters to travelers of all ages, as well as to families with a robust kids program.

Do I have to dress up on a Star Cruises cruise?

Sometimes. Star Cruises requests smart-casual attire during the daytime and most evenings, although you are asked to dress more elegantly when eating at one of the fine dining restaurants. Smarter wear is also recommended on gala nights. Flip-flops and beachwear are generally discouraged indoors.

Is everything free on Star Cruises cruises?

No. Meals in the main restaurants are complimentary, as is most entertainment but that's about it. You'll have to pay extra for beverages (including paying a corkage charge if you bring your own alcoholic beverage to any of the dining outlets), meals in specialty restaurants, snacks outside of set meal times, shore excursions, select shows and onboard activities, spa treatments and service charges.

What are Star Cruises’s most popular activities?

Activities in the ports of call keep most cruisers busy during the day. Onboard, dining is a major draw for cruisers with several restaurants of varying cuisine styles on every ship. When not in port, you'll find card rooms full of mah jongg players and the onboard shows, which feature flexible Chinese acrobats -- always draw a crowd, as are the very popular karaoke facilities.

Why go with Star Cruises?

Markets to Asian travelers, but global cruisers are welcome

Best for: Cruisers from China, Japan, Singapore and India; or anyone with a strong connection to Asia

Not for: Anyone opposed to paying extra for onboard dining
