My family had a great time yet my wife and I have taken 7 Princess cruises and a total of 31 cruises. My general assessment is that Princess has bee Carnivalized. Everything about the ship, the service and the food demonstrates cutting corners at the expense of not just the passengers, but the staff as well. We had a mini suite serviced by an overworked housekeeper. On Celebrity, for the same cabin, you have a housekeeper and a butler, fresh fruit in your room and canapes in the afternoon. You also eat in a special restaurant and drink premium booze is a seperate lounge. Not the case on Princess. The cabin was tired; the sofa was dirty, cushions did not stay in place, surfaces of counters and furnitures were marred and chipped, the bathroom floor had dirt that could not be cleaned, the balcony was dirty, the sliding glass doors were always dirty. The food was mediocre at best, except for the Crown Grill where we had a great dinner. The public spaces were always far to noisy. It's great to have a good time, but you can barely hear anyone when talking to them. The bars were quite nice and the service was very good. I was amazed that the Crooner's bar ran out of peanuts and some of the booze. Shouldn't that be better planned? The fitness center decent and my wife had 2 good massages. This was my last Princess cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to get away for New Years for a week. Embarkation was very quick and we were immediately loaded onto ship with no waiting in lounge. Had to wait a bit till rooms were ready, but that’s to be expected. We were in Club class and enjoyed most of our meals in their special dining area. We actually felt the wait staff were a bit over attentive as it felt fake and suffocating. Food was typical for Princess - nothing special, just ok. The pizzarria and the grill by the pool were hot & fresh as well as delicious and staff there were quite friendly & helpful. We attended most nightly entertainment shows - 2 guest entertainers had two shows each and we felt their second shows were nowhere as good as their first - almost seemed an afterthought or leftover material thrown together as we really liked their first shows! Service was ok, oft times drink service was slow and NOBODY went out of their way to be friendly, charming, amusing, or even attentive. Went to 24 hour International coffee place early one morning (5am) only to be told machines were being cleaned and to come back in 45 minutes when they could then resume coffee making - so much for 24 hour service! We signed up to take the Ships tour ar $150 each (with gifts to be received including a $75 valued robe, a nice picture frame, 5 group photos, a bbq apron, and a personalized pad of paper). All gifts arrived except the robe and when I questioned guest services, I was told they had no robes but would be happy to credit me $25 each! Wow - what a shock - a $25 credit for a $75 item? I was shocked that this was the best they could do and that I had to ask for it when the robe had been advertised by their crew as a participation gift! Disembarkation was well organized and went very smooth and quick! Read Less

We do this as often as we can for Christmas week. This is the first time we can say from the minute we got on to the end entire crew welcoming, helpful, pleasant caring. 1 of us needed wheelchair assistance and it was there from check in all the way to the Horizon for lunch, wow !!! Room attendant provided what asked but not the friendliest, and the spirit of the entire ship was amazing on the night the crew sang Christmas carols with passengers joining in. It was a pretty amazing thing to see and be a part of. Also great was the passengers who formed the passenger Christmas choir to sing in their own show! Negative was the way too early scheduled late seating at 7:15 or 7:30, (just back and now cant remember oops!)the lack of late shows for late seating and missing alot because of the early/ late seating time. Was no late night comedienne either, When in ports no way to make that seating time. Few nights we skipped it. We recommend the specialty steak restaurant ,we went twice. We didn't care much for the girl main server in the dining room, every night was rushed, talked fast and offered recommendations we did not ask for. Otherwise GREAT TIME! ps, its a rather long ship so take a pass if you have trouble walking a lot. Read Less
