Copenhagen to New York the long way round. Our 4th HAL cruise and 2nd on Eurodam.
After flying BA to Copenhagen, stayed for two nights at Hilton Copenhagen Airport and spent a evening and day exploring the city using frequent train/metro Took a taxi to the ship (400 Dkr) as it seemed the easiest way as cruise terminal is along way from the centre on reclaimed land. After security, a quick check ...
This is my first review. I thought I would start to Journal just prior to this cruise. A disclaimer right from the start. The below are my observations, experiences my likes and dislikes about the Viking Passage cruise. A little background first. My wife and I are 4 Star Mariners sailing more than 25 or so times on the Holland America Line. We had a Veranda “A “cabin 5058. We chose open dinning ...
SHIP – The Eurordam is a good size ship. We enjoy the mid to smaller size cruise ship and this fit right in to that - not the mega-ships. Even though the ship was sold-out, there were still plenty of places to sit and read and relax without feeling overwhelmed by people. It’s a very clean ship and things seemed to be in good repair. I think the pool is a bit small, but then we were cruising the ...
This is my first review that I have put on here that I was not blown away by the cruise.
This cruise on the Eurodam was very lacking considering this was my 6th one with HAL 3rd on the Eurodam.
To start the services with the room services were lacking, this trip. We had times were are room was not cleaned in an orderly fashion at all. This was something we had never experienced before with ...
We enjoyed a 7 day cruise to Norway (with a stop at Gothenburg).
The ship's crew is very friendly and all did their utmost to make our vacation easy, interesting and fun.
Of course the negatives are usually the same: the wifi is terrible and the ship's shore excursions are wildly overpriced. We avoided both as much as possible. Recommendations we gathered here and on Trip Advisor were ...
We did the paper work and embarked quickly for our cruise to Norwegian fjords. We headed to our stateroom and found our luggage was already there. We decided to go and grab a bite of lunch before unpacking. Lunch in the Lido was quite nice. There were many choices so there were enough selections for everyone's taste. We then went back to unpack. We had a verandah room and we found it had a lot of ...
We have been on about 14 cruises, various lines, and multiple HAL ones. This had it's share of good and bad and ugly.
The ship is getting old and a little shabby, but otherwise OK. They should paint the hallways of the staterooms another color other than drab gray to brighten things up. The old photos of ships and cruise liners from the past were nice, but better legends would have made them ...
My husband and I (60s, late 50s) have just returned from our wonderful Baltic Adventure sailing. Almost 40 cruises for myself as a travel agent since 1978, and my husband has sailed on around 20. We like that Holland America is keeping their ships from the Megaship model. We'd dined at the Pinnacle Grill, (excellent, we both had beef), Canaletto was a tasty option one night. Tamarind has a lovely ...
SHIP: The ship was good size with lots of options for eating, drinking, walking, exercising, relaxing, or reading. It was very clean with hand sanitizer dispensers spread throughout the ship. The pool was a little on the small size, but most people were very content to use the lounge chairs around the pool and just relax. The "adult pool" was a smoker's paradise so we avoided it. Not a lot of ...
After a year absence from cruising, things had changed. Food is important to us, I think it has improved, my wife wasn't sure. Service was excellent and professional but fewer stewards. The room was good, clean and in good repair. They have reduced the room stewards by maybe 2/3rds, they work hard and do a good job but cant measure up to more stewards. The crew around the ship is smaller, ...
