We were really impressed by the staff and the vessel from the moment we boarded the Jayavarman. All facilities on board were excellent. Our cabin was well serviced with clean linen at all times and little surprises on the bed at the end of each day. The dining experince was over and above what we had expected. Our table was excellently serviced by the delightful Moni and others. We would certainly ...

Cruising with Ponant

Review for a Asia Cruise on L'Austral

We chose this cruise on L'Austral as the pre and post cruise land tours gave us the opportunity to visit both the amazing Angkor Wat in Cambodia and Bagan in Myanmar. Both of these tours were fantastic and we saw so much. We very much enjoy travelling on the small ships these days, we find Ponant suits our taste and you do get to know the crew and many of the other passengers on such a small ...

We wanted to experience the culture and beauty of Vietnam, Cambodia and the Mekong Delta; and what better way than on a beautiful river boat. The Jayavarman is just that. The staff was excellent and we were spoiled for the entire week. Nim, Panny and Makara were delightful. The cabin decor was elegant with adequate space, and a veranda with wonderful views. Amazing sunrises and sunsets. The ship's ...

The Worst Ever, With Specifics

Review for a Asia Cruise on Le Soleal

After enjoying some 20 cruises on Oceania, Cunard, Norwegian, Crystal, Holland-America, and Silver Sea, we think we have a pretty good grasp of the industry and what a paying passenger should expect. Le Soloeal, owned by the French line Le Ponant, is the the worst run cruise ship I have ever seen. Paying for Le Soleal is like throwing your money away. The problems go to the policies (which ...

Like Travelling on the Orient Express

Cruising the Mekong in his small ship is like being on the Orient Express except you are afloat. Cruising the Mekong is probably the best way to see the vibrancy, colour and rhythms of life that the Vietnamese and Cambodian people have been following for generations. Here you experience slices of life and photographic opportunities every minute to capture the essence of Vietnam and ...

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

In taking a slightly longer trip on the QM2 this year my wife and I were wondering if it would live up to last year's memories. Fortunately on neither voyage have we come across the 'moaning mingers' who seem to populate the pages of many review websites. Why do so many people fail to realise that "ask (politely) and staff will try hard to please .. moan, complain and you'll find yourself on your ...
