Fantastic cruising with the Volendam

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Volendam

The Volendam is a wonderful ship, elegant and not too big. The crew were excellent especially the Rotterdam dining team. The casual Lido was also good as well as the burgers and hotdogs by the pool. Just be careful when you order drinks. Not all are free on board, including the softdrinks and water in your cabin. Since American coffee are all the same anyway, just order regular coffee. Otherwise ...

It was my 65 th birthday have never been keen to cruise but wanted to see glacier bay. We chose the Volendam because it is a small ship taking 1400 passengers. We booked an inside cabin and were allocated one on deck 3 the lower promenade. It was much larger than we were expecting and we came out the door right next to the promenade deck, nearly as good as an outside cabin, as there were ...

Saw add in paper for Alaskan cruises, went to one of their presentations and booked it. We had a great time!!! Stopped in Juneau, Skagway, Whitehorse, Dawson City, Fairbanks, Anchorage. I would recommend not having an early flight home out of Anchorage, we did not get a chance to look around much. Everyone was very nice on each mode of transportation. Planes, trains, ship, and buses. It was ...

HAL Land and Sea Alaska should be on everyone's bucket list to do.

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Noordam

We joined the Noordam in Seward for one way to Vancouver after doing the land portion to Denali. We had a signature suite on deck 6 which was quite spacious with plenty of closet and storage space. The bathroom had double sinks and a separate tub and shower. All in all the suite was extremely nice. Our room stewards Dada and Zulu were exceptional and responded to every request promptly. They ...

I have been wanting to visit Alaska, this cruise seemed like the perfect opportunity. The ship was granted access to cruise through Glacier Bay and through the Inside Passage. The cruise itself was amazing. The captain made daily long winded announcements regarding the ship's travel path and the wild life surrounding the ship. The onboard activities were truly lacking Unless you want ...

Classy experience. Ship: Noordam. Well appointed, clean, well maintained. Hand sanitizers available everywhere, with overhead and live reminders to use or to wash hands. Great implementation! Excellent emergency training pre-embarking. Captain Bos kept us informed on wildlife sightings and beautiful vistas as we approached. Ports: Departed Seward, AK, and charming town. The Sea Life ...

Bad Cabin, 4174

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Westerdam

Had good luck with Holland in the past. We got cabin 4174, on the stern above the dining area. Leaving Seattle the noise in the cabin was deafening, a constant pounding, very loud. This created a vibration which shook anything in the room adding to the noise. This continued for three days. We could not sleep at all. After a call to customer service, they said they had no more rooms. After three ...

Holland America Westerdam; Overdue for Maintenance and Renovations

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Westerdam

We were hoping that the Holland America Westerdam would be a step above the rest, but we didn't see that. No deal-breakers, but the lack of attention to detail was noticeable. I'll start with a few of the things I saw, and then share what stood out on the positive side. How long should it take to get a glass of water refilled in the sit-down dining hall ? I would propose that for a first ...

An Excellent Experience

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam

The food and eating areas were clean, efficient and well run. They offered pleasant surroundings with efficient, hard working and friendly staff. We ate in the Lido, the common eating area and we impressed by it - much better than the 'trough' we had experienced on a different cruise. We also ate at two of the fine dining areas and both were excellent. Our accommodation with very good. It ...
