This was our 5 th cruise to Alaska, our 21st cruise but our first time on Holland. Given some other reviews I was a little apprehensive but decided to go for it. We arrived in Seattle a day early and enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont. Holland collected our bags at the hotel and delivered them to the ship. Check in at the pier was very organized and many helpful agents to direct. Since we had a ...

This was our 3rd HAL cruise in the Deluxe Verandah Suite category, last two were on the Ryndam. However it has been 7 years since our last cruise and this time we were very dissappointed. Very doubtful we will cruise HAL again. On our last cruises we rated the main dining room food and service a 9 out of 10. On this cruise the food was about a 3 and the service a 5. We were traveling with 4 other ...

Arrived at dock at 2:00 in the afternoon because we had missed our original flight. Shuttle Express took us there first when driver heard we had been up since 4 am (2 am Seattle time) and really wanted to get there. Before we left, I had prebooked and paid for 2 seats to cruise terminal. Embarkation was smooth and the women from Seattle that the cruiseline hires to expedite the process are super ...

Bonjour from Louisiana's Cajun Country!! Just returned from a spectacular cruise to Alaska! Many thanks to the guest services dept. of Holland for making this trip possible for us. Our original cruising date was May 26th, but due to family illness we were forced to cancel:( Holland America treated us like VIPs when we called about rescheduling. They helped us in so many ways to salvage our ...

A fun trip

Cruising is something everyone should do at least once. According to fellow passengers who had been on many, this cruise was above average. We enjoyed it. Contrary to the early reviews, you won't be sorry you did this. Since this cruise is mostly on the inside passage, you are not likely to get seasick. Getting onboard is easy enough. If you are coming from far away, come the night before and ...

Well beyond my expectation

This cruise has been great. Alaska is beautiful; Holland America is well above my expectation. This is simply the best cruise I've ever had, and I would easily go on HAL again. I have never seen such personal services from any other travel companies before. To keep this review brief, I'd like to first address some of the main concerns that others mentioned in earlier reviews: 1. Tracy ...

This was the second time I have cruised on the Ooesterdam and it was an excellent cruise. When I read the poor reviews before going to Alaska I thought maybe things had changed since I last cruised to Mexico with the Oeesterdam two years ago. Nothing could be further from the truth and the people who complained probably should not be cruising. The only complaint I had on the past cruise was too ...

Very Satisfied with our first 7-Day Cruise!

Sorry this has no particular order, but I thank those who reviewed before me and wanted to contribute. We really enjoyed our cruise on the Westerdam. You have to realize that it is an Alaska cruise and what the clientèle will be... i.e. a mix of old people and families... not too many young 21+ people, but we still had a great time. Next time, we are going to try and do a Caribbean cruise ...

Having read some relatively unkind reviews of previous voyages of this cruise I thought I would add my own thoughts to the mix. Some have found the food to be poor. This was not the opinion of myself or our traveling family. We found the food in the Lido buffet and the Vista Dining Room to be quite good with a nice variety. Our only complaint related to this cruise and different from our ...

We had a great time. Our party was three older teens, my wife and myself, my sister and mother in law. Seven total. We flew in to Seattle the day before, from Detroit and stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown. I was not familiar with Seattle, I found it easy to get around. I used a car service, A Plus Town Cars, booked ahead, to get from the airport hotel, to ship, and back to the airport and the ...
