It was part of our trip to Scandinavia as we are group of 30 people travelling from a European country to explore Scandinavian countries.
Our embarkation was at 0130 am on 28th of February 2022 and we are supposed to reach our destination Svolaraer at 1830 the same day. What is more they have asked us to empty the rooms from 1330!!! although we are going to reach our destination at 18 ...
Classic ship on iconic route - what could be better? A lot, as it turns out: The route does not offer much fjord experience, mostly you trundle coast-wise behind the outlying islands. Most places the time in port is too short for sightseeing. Once in open seas, this little ships rocks. And rolls. Keep your seasickness pills handy. The company has a museum at its place of origin. Don't expect to ...
The MS Lofoten crew were brilliantly friendly and helpful and several passengers were so fond of the ship and crew that they were on a repeat voyage. Unfortunately, I was not to become so endeared to the ship.
MS Lofoten is a 55 year old Ferry. It was designed as a Ferry. It was built as a Ferry. It is operated as a Ferry. Many people (and cargo) use it as a Ferry. It is not a “cruise” ship. ...
We were travelling from Alesund to Bergen. It cost 337 Gbp for my girlfriend and I, so very expensive and our hopes were high. There was very little information before the trip, then no one to meet us at the terminal, everyone just had to work it our for themselves. The cabin was tiny, barely room for us and our bags once the beds were folded out. We couldn't move past each other. It was extremely ...
Wanted to see the Northern lights, and Norway in winter.
This ship is very badly in need of updating, not enough seating for all guests and a lot of threadbare seats.
Food served at dinner was never hot , mostly lukewarm.
Food buffet style for breakfast and lunch also never kept hot for the hot dishes. Food items on buffet frequently ran out. Last nights left over desserts served again at ...
The ship is less than basic as it is a ferry and working ship, but that is no excuse for sacrificing passenger facilities leaving repairs (our wardrobe door was coming off its hinges, the ladies sauna out of action and much else) unattended to over a near 2 week trip.
They charge for everything including tea and coffee except at lmeal times and it is not cheap even though it is poor quality ...
My wife and I chose this cruise (Bergen to Kirkenes, Sept 2018) as there really isn't any other total Coastal cruise. It was suppose to be her dream cruise, as she is of Norwegian heritage. First, the best fjords are in the Bergen area, and do not require a Hurtigruten cruise. You can take a nice fjord day cruise (Sognefjord) as part of the Norway-in-a Nutshell (Oslo to Bergen, Flam train and ...
The travel timings were precise and everything went smoothly.
However all the meals in the restaurant were lukewarm and often ran out without being replenished. The restaurant service was slow and the prices for the wine, beer etc were overpriced. The cheapest bottle of house wine was NOK 500. We priced in local supermarkets at NOK 124. Considering that Hurtigruten would purchase this at a ...
Absolutely not worth the price. Horrible old ship without any standards and I must say worst ferry experience ever anywhere in the world. One could not imaginate that there still are so back-dated ships. The cabin was under all critism, so scruffy and worn-out without a toilet. And this is still possible in Norway, one of the richest countries in the world - such a huge disappointment! ...
My partner and I went on a Northern Lights Cruise with Hurtigruten along the coast of Norway. We had been planning this for some time and were really looking forward to it. Norway is a beautiful country but the 'cruise' was very disappointing.
If you are planning to go with Hurtigruten to Norway make sure you know what you are booking. There were so few passengers on our trip that the ...
