A nice gentle cruise in better weather than the UK!

We felt we needed a break after some unwelcome medical issues and settled on this, our second, Saga cruise just recently. We were again on Sprit of Discovery - and Captain Darin Bowland was again in command. We always feel that the Captain sets the tone for any cruise and it was obvious that the Captain was well liked by his crew which meant that everything was relaxed and well organised. The ...

Saga Spirit of Adventure Norway’s Cities and Fjords 21st - 28th July 23 Background We have been in 30+ ocean cruises in the last 20 years. Mostly with Silver Seas or Seven Seas/Regent. But in 2022 we chose a Saga cruise on the Spirit of Discovery for the first time as, post pandemic, we didn't want to fly. We were so impressed we booked again on Spirit of Adventure.. Price Like ...

Norway Fjords, 9 days are too long.

On October 2022 I booked a 14 days Baltic cruise in P&O Britanny, which I paid on front, because the pound-dollar rate was the lowest, about 1.12 ( currently 1.28 ), no service charge, free launderette, overnight in Stockholm and Copenhague, calls in Helsinki and 3 more small cities. A few weeks later the cruise was cancelled by P&O and I had to find something to replace it within the same dates ...

Great way to experience coastal Norway

Hurtigruten’s “Expedition” series cruises are half-way between a traditional cruise and an adventure expedition. The food is top class, plentiful and well managed but the choice of restaurants, bars and dining experiences is limited. The on-board entertainment centres around lectures, craft activities etc and there are no “shows” or anything of the like. There is no casino. The focus is on ...

An amazing adventure into the winter wonderland

We chose the ultimate winter expedition for the number of days and stops in the cruise up the Norwegian coast, and also for the Northern Lights promise. The ship is perfect for visiting the fjords annd sails through some epic scenery that larger cruise ships could not access. The ship is maintained in excellent and very clean condition it’s smaller size also made for a more relaxing and friendly ...

One of the best cruises I have been on.

I wanted to see the Northern Lights and the Norwegian fjords and felt Hurtigruten was the best company to provide this. Furthermore, Hurtigruten offers a free 7 day cruise if the Northern Lights are not seen. Hurtigruten did not disappoint. We saw the Northern Lights on two occasions and with Hurtigruten's long experience sailing in the Norwegian fjords the crew was able to avoid bad weather ...

A brilliant experience

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Bolette

I recently enjoyed a 7-nights cruise aboard Fred. Olsen's Bolette to Oslo and some fjords. It was my first trip out of the country since a cruise aboard Boudicca in February 2020 and therefore my very first cruise aboard Bolette. Like many other people I had grown very fond of both Black Watch and Boudicca but as they were approaching their 50th birthdays one knew that they would not be around ...

We managed to get the last accessible cabin on this sailing. Even if you use a small foldable wheelchair, as I do, Saga insist that you have an accessible cabin (elf and safety), and there aren’t many. Chauffeured car to Dover was easy, with a short comfort stop on the way. Our cabin was lovely and comfortable, but with limited storage space. We could have done with a larger dressing table ...

Having sailed with Fred before we decided to do the Norway ,Arrived Dover parked the old bus up, Check in seemed to take for ever with those above our deck taking preference on boarding, lots of old people over 60 if you catch my drift . One thing about Fred Olsen if it sank there are enough sticks on board you could build a raft and it is like a mortuary after 23.59 . Well her who is to be ...
