Half the service twice the gratuities

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Joy

This was our 2nd time on the Joy the first time in Haven this time balcony plus. Which is bigger bathroom. Overall the ship was clean after the 3 week drydock. Due to weather and rough seas we spent most of our time inside. The activities were very limited and usually basic bean bag toss, language lessons and trivia in the atrium. Then there were the usual art, bingo, and other extra charge games. ...

11 Days at Sea, Right Out of Dry Dock

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Joy

My wife and I sailed a Transatlantic cruise after the Joy came out of a 3-week dry dock. We have sailed 30-35 times, mostly on Celebrity and Azamara. Last NCL sailing was 2016. This specific crossing was 60% of capacity. The ship was clean and well maintained. Crew is ever present. The only location showing a bit of on-going construction was the area of the 24 newly-installed cabins where a ...

Good cruise - Service and quality lacking in some areas

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

NCL has been the company of choice in the past due to it's freestyle policy and overall quality and after a patient wait following 3 cancelled cruises due to covid and the war in the Ukraine we were eager to sail again. Over this time costs have inevitably gone up as have the gratuities (more than 100% since our last cruise in 2017). Now we more or less expected this under the current climate but ...

Met Expectations

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

This was our sixth transatlantic cruise, the second on the Getaway and our eighth overall on an NCL vessel. Our cruise and the Getaway were par-for-the-course meeting expectations. No surprises or unexpected disappointments...It's one of the big ships with all the competitive bells & whistles. The staterooms & bathrooms are clean, somewhat spacious, comfortable and practical. A shortage of ubs ...

The Bad and the Good

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

Booked a European cruise that sailed out of Southhampton in October. First the good. The meals were good. The Garden Cafe buffet was actually good with a variety and selection that pleased multiple tastes. We also enjoyed the the food at Cagney's and Moderno. They make good food for specialty diners. The crew were very friendly and attentive to doing great service in housekeeping, food, ...

We were a group of 19 people and wanted to cruise and visit the Azores and Bermuda on our transatlantic cruise. We ended up 9 days at sea with no stops in port. The only compensation we received was a $200 non refundable on ship credit. There was not much for entertainment onboard but the crew were great. This cruise sucked and I would not recommend it to anyone. The food was mediocre but ...

Wonderful cabins but terrible public areas

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Prima

Lets start with the good stuff: The new design of the cabins is fantastic. Lots of space, very functionnal and great decor. As usual on NCL, quality of the food is outstanding, great crew, great service. The Hudson main dining room is fabulous and the improved fixed menue have lots of choices. Now lets talk about the failures of this new ship: 1. The 3 level atrium looks great. But ...

Transatlantic cruise via Iceland

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Prima

We loved the decor of the ship cream , blue and touches of gold - modern and beautiful. The layout of the public spaces is clearly a change from what we expected as regular NCL cruises and not without problems. There are small spaces I guess to spread out passengers. Public areas were crowed with occupancy at 65%. In warm weather I think the spaces during the day will work well. However the ...

Enjoyable transatlantic cruise, but entertainment was poor

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Prima

We have just completed our 13th NCL cruise, a transatlantic cruise on the Norwegian Prima. We sailed on the transatlantic crossings of the Bliss and Encore and loved both of them. We have also sailed on other cruiselines. All staff and crew were excellent. The food was very good in all venues, albeit limited in the small buffet. The transformation of the theatre into a nightclub in the evening ...

Pretty but...

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Prima

We chose the very first transatlantic cruise by NCL for its newest ship, the Prima. We have cruised NCL almost exclusively and have never had a bad experience. First of all this was a northern cruise(Southampton to Orkney Scotland, Reykjavik Iceland and Halifax Nova Scotia.) So with the rather bleak weather it was impossible to really appreciate all the outdoor ambiance of the ship. That was not ...
