This was our 5th Trans-Atlantic repositioning voyage in two years and our first cruise on Celebrity. We're avid Mariners with 15 cruises under our belt, having sailed on Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland America and Oceania.
Highlights:
The Eclipse is a beautiful ship and maintained to high standards. Constant emphasis was placed on hand sterilization in all venues. Kudos on job well done! ...
The ship was very clean, Lovely clean statement room, Food was lovely, no problems, we ate in the main dining room, same table with same dinner Guests every night, (met some lovely people). Head Waiter Alberto and Asst. Ruth and Wine waiter Alan were brillant, well informed about the meals and wine, and nothing was too much trouble. Some Passengers did complain that some of their meals were ...
Travelled in a Royal Suite costing $13k.
Included premium drinks for both wife and myself. I am teetotal. My wife hardly drinks. She had one glass of wine the whole trip. They charged an extra $6, which the Hotel Director maintained when I said it was petty.
The band on board was awful.
The only "show" we went to lasted about 30 minutes. Great comedian, but no band, dancers or anything. ...
My wife and I are long term cruisers, twice on Eclipse, with a gap of a few years; the first time was 2010, freshly painted from the yards. She was then the epitome of five star cruising, plush, elegant surroundings, attentive experienced staff, great food and great entertainment. How things change. This is my first and last ever review on here, no criticism intended to regular contributors, but ...
Our first cruise with Celebrity
Booked this as a way of getting my mother-in-law & sister-in-law to the USA without the side-effects of jet lag.
Boarding: as we had special assistance, this was very smooth. We were in our cabins in about 30 minutes. Noted that luggage was loaded by rolling the cages onto a conveyor belt rather that using a fork lift truck we have seen in other ...
I was so excited to once again cruise. The check in went smoothly, but as soon as my feet pattered onto the ship, I was hit by employee after employee to buy a drink package, buy a specialty restaurant, by a message, by a spa package, buy buy buy. It was a very stressful situation for me, and I couldn't avoid them, they were everywhere. I felt trapped by solicitors! Wait a minute! I just bought ...
My son and I chose this cruise because I have cruised often on Celebrity and had been on the Eclipse before and liked it. I have made 132 cruises on various ships and at this time, think Celebrity is the most innovative and probably the best for the price. Also wanted days at sea. We liked the Lumana Restaurant that came with the suite and also Michael's Club for a quiet place to meet with ...
We were told to have our main luggage ready in our Singapore hotel room at 9 o'clock on the morning of departure so that we would get on the boat early. We were told to vacate the hotel at 11:30am and board the coach.
At 11:20 we called reception to say our luggage was still in the room. No luggage had been collected from anyone. A hotel manager collected ours personally and a holiday rep in ...
We were excited to return to the Summit and do the Blues Cruise again. It was like night and day. Musicians were awesome, fellow cruisers a blast. No problem there. But, the service was horrible. Except for Nehemiah at the Pool Bar- he was tremendous. We had Aqua Class, the same as the last cruise in 2012. The Blue Restaurant was fine. The Italian - forget it! Do not go, worst food and ...
The trip didn't begin well due to the embarkation chaos at Singapore. People were told to come at staggered times but most ignored this and the port were not able to deal with things. It took us 2 hours but others took longer.
Once on board the cabins were ready however and luggage arrived within 30 min.
We dined at the Epernay restaurant every night, and the food remained excellent with ...
