After planning for over 1 year I finally got to go on a Windstar cruise.
I was expecting a lot and, for the most part it, met all expectations.
Prior to going on the cruise my initial cruise was cancelled as the ship was chartered.
They gave us a $500/pp credit and paid to change our airfare.
I loved the small size of the ship.
The cabin was small but functional. The bathroom had ...
My husband and I, and 2 other couples, chose this ship because we wanted a small ship. It was perfect in size...getting on and off ship was easy and quick. We were in cabin 240 which is at the very end of the hall. It proved to be a great room in the sense that there wasn't much foot traffic outside our door. The cabin had more than enough storage cabinets and plenty of under bed storage for ...
Decided to try Windstar after liking the smaller ship experience on Viking and Azamara and Viking River. Overall, the food was very good, the crew friendly and eager to please however we started off by delaying our sail away by a day due to "two small holes" in the hull that required underwater welding. This resulted in a sea day instead of our scheduled port of call in Cartagena which was the ...
Overall, this was an excellent cruise. The food is fabulous and despite the small size of the ship, the cabins are relatively spacious. The crew were extremely friendly and made a point of knowing everyone by name. Unlike larger ships, there is no fighting for deck chairs, etc. A very relaxed experience. There were, however a couple of issues that need to be addressed. The WIFI on the ship ...
Pros and Cons
As always, the ship’s staff were very friendly, and the waiters and much of the staff always remember your names. There is always at least one crew member (this trip, two) who remembers us from a previous cruise (my wearing a Windstar T-shirt doesn’t hurt).
Breakfast and lunch in the Terrace is always a nice buffet, and there are also items available from a menu if you want to ...
After a lengthy break from multiple sailings on Windstar, it was with some trepidation that we decided to book this trans-Atlantic crossing from Lisbon to Bridgetown on the Wind Star. We were concerned that we would be longing for the "old days" on this cruise. We shouldn’t have worried. The “new” Windstar exceeded our expectations in all areas with two exceptions that I will describe at the end ...
My husband and I were so pleasantly surprised by the crew (excellent), the food (excellent) and the demographics of those on the cruise. The Captain was approachable, and entertaining!
However, the ship is in need of upgrading. The rooms could have been more modern, the beds uncomfortable, and there are very few facilities onboard...and to claim to have a swimming pool is a misnomer. It is not ...
With winter wearing us down we felt it was time to book another cruise to soak up some sun and heat. We ended up choosing Windstar because 1) It wasn't departing out of the cruise ports we'd done many times before (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, etc.) and 2) the ports were not, with the exception of Castries, places we had been to before. Yeah, basically we wanted to try something different in the ...
Background: Just completed a special tour where our sales group had the complete ship for a week. We started in Bridgetown, Barbados and called on Pigeon Island, St. Lucia, Les Saintes, St. Kitts, St. Barts, Jost Van Dyke and ended in Philipsburg, St. Maarten.
This ship will be going into dry dock in about a month. After 30 years of service it needs to. The staff have done a great job of ...
MVY Windstar - Barbados - Jan 5th 2016 - Caribbean cruise. Wonderful Cruise, wonderful people and staff, and a great ship EXCEPT for the noise in some of the cabins at night while underway. The noise is a very high pitched wine that makes it impossible to sleep. When we complained that ultimately moved us to a cabin much further forward, The noise was almost eliminated but still there. BUT you ...
