This ship should be taken out of service for a maajor overhaul. Bathroom tiles were mildew stained. Vinyl on restaurant booths were torn Dining tables had cracks in Formica that collected dirt. Line cooks were nice unless you had a request then they were snippy. Buffet often closed early or opened late. Food variety was good and it looked great but was bland. Bar service was spotty. ...
We sailed the Zaandam, Northbound only Vancouver - Seward 7 day Alaskan cruise May 31 - June 7.
We ate 3 breakfasts in Rotterdam, including day of departure, as we disembarked at 8:25. Leave 1 hour for this leisurely served, well done meal. And, meet people!
We ate at Canaletto on first formal night for upcharge of $10/diner. We did not bring formal clothing. What a wonderful meal given ...
Overall rating of cruise is due to two things - lack of organization in getting off the ship at some ports. People coming from stairwells, off the elevators and then coming down the corridors. Too many converging into one area and total disorganization. Need major improvement.
I understand the guidelines for Formal night as set in the description, but on Carnival, Princess and the Royal lines, ...
First time we have sailed on HAL. We did the Denali land tour prior to cruising- it was a great experience. Stunning and beautiful scenery with lots of wildlife viewing. Embarkation was fast-less than 10 minutes. Our cabin as a verandah suite located on deck 7. The room was spacious with lots of storage. The bathroom was a little dated but everything was spotless. The cabin stewards did an ...
I took this cruise with 3 other females of the same age (late 40's). The food was wonderful as was the service from staff, very friendly and incredibly helpful. The entertainment was in my opinion, very bad. I have been on 5 other cruises and went to the shows almost every night on those cruises and really enjoyed them. This cruise was very limited with their variety, talent and enthusiasm. ...
Overall, this was an excellent trip. Of course, we enjoyed some uncommonly phenomenal weather, so that set the tone for most of the trip. The pre-cruise hotel stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver was the perfect place to kick things off. The hotel couldn't be in a better location (at Canada Place overlooking the pier), and the accommodations and service were wonderful. Having read some ...
If you need any type equipment by your bed, make sure you bring an extension cord. It was ridiculous how long it took, how many people were involved and what the final result was. We also had air conditioning that didn't get fixed until the last day. We had a problem with the door separating balconies that wouldn't stay closed and was banging. This happened twice and again had the same problem as ...
Overall, we had a great trip. I did the inside passage in the 1960's, and the whole trip was foggy with cold rain; definitely no fun. As a result, we did not pre-book any excursions until we got on board and knew what the weather would be. The weather was great, so we spent a lot on shore excursions. Some were worth the price, others not so fun. We would have saved a lot if we pre-booked them ...
The rating of this ship is generous according to reviews. Service was awful to non existing. Out of 14 nights in dining room my husband only had one night where his iced tea or water was refilled. Gone are the days where customers mattered. Asked for condiments when I ordered dinner so I would have them. Never came with dinner either. Again, ignored and didn't give a damn for their customers. ...
This was our first cruise on HAL. I had pretty high expectations and was not disappointed. Embarkation was late starting due to Coast Guard not having cleared the ship. We learned it was just returning from dry dock and required Coast Guard inspection. There was not too much of a delay and embarkation went smoothly. Dry dock refurbishment updated the ship with brand new carpets, upholstery, ...
