We did Alaska on NCL Star in 2011, but it was in May which was a little too cold. Wanted to do Alaska again but on a one-way from the North to South.
NCL Sun - August 1 from Seward to Vancouver with stops in Icy Strait Point, Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway.
Smooth embarkation; we were on the ship at 11:15 am. Cabin 1202 on deck 11 was fantastic; see more details below in cabin ...
Having sailed on Norwegian Cruise before didn't think twice about booking the Alaskan 12 land/cruise with Norwegian. However, experience on this cruise very disappointing compared to our first experience. We booked the l2 day land and cruise package. The land tour was first. Our first stop was in Fairbanks. The hotel had no hot water for showers (boiler problem) and days start very early - ...
This was our first cruise for a three generation family ranging in age from 74 to ten years old. We thought the overall ship experience was great. Our ten year old, however found the Splash Academy activities too young for her and the teens too old. She had fun anyway with her aunt and the pool, exercise room and shore excursions. We would suggest a tween group of activities for that age ...
This was a 50 year wedding anniversary trip. The room was quiet, and the service was excellent. The food in the formal dining room was superb, and the buffet in the café was good with many choices for breakfast. All of the crew were helpful when needed. Our favorite port was Sitka where we walked through the beautiful rain forest and saw some eagles. The Mendenhall Glacier and waterfall in ...
We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise. The sun is an older, smaller ship, but by nature of that, there were far less passengers, even at capacity and you never felt that it was crowded. In general it does not have a big "wow" factor like the Breakway or some of the newer, larger ships but is very comfortable easy to navigate. Embarkation took no more than five minutes and there was no waiting - ...
Our family group included 3 adults, 2 teens and 3 generations. We started a day early in Anchorage and took the Denali 11 day express. The Lakefront Hotel was lovely and helpful. Prices, of course for meals and such, were high but we expected that. We took the $30. pontoon plane ride over Anchorage and that was wonderful. I recommend this flight Our planned helicopter ride up to a glacier ...
My husband and I cruised after a seven day absolutely amazing independent land tour through Alaska Tour and Travel. We choose Norwegian because it is more casual and we would not need as much luggage for the two weeks since we would not need as many dress clothes and shoes. Limiting luggage for the land portion is important.
We spent two nights in Seward and those days were great. We took the ...
A travel agent selected Norwegian Sun for a northbound group Alaskan cruise and land tour due to pricing. Knowing nothing is perfect, we were satisfied overall with both the cruise and the land tour.
Ship: Although the ship is older, it looked well maintained. I didn't see anything that I thought was overly worn or looked dirty. And for the outside, it was always the prettiest ship in the ...
The service was extremely excellent cheerful and courteous.
We loved our ship's crew. Most friendly and lots of fun
This was a 50 year wedding anniversary trip. They gave us special songs and cake.
The room was wonderful, full of surprises, and the service was excellent. The food in the formal dining room was superb, and the buffet in the café was good with many choices. All of the crew ...
Full disclosure: this was my first cruise since a high school booze cruise to the Bahamas (30 years ago). This was a long-planned cruise with my wife, 12 year old daughter, and two other families (a total of 6 adults and 6 children under 13). Our ship traveled from Seward Vancouver.
Our number one goal was to cruise Alaska. Goal two was reasonable pricing. Based upon our travelers' ...
