This was my second cruise on the Explorer. I cruised again because the first one was wonderful, well this one was better. The ship's royal promenade is the perfect addition to a cruise ship. Starbuck's/ Ben and Jerry's at the same counter-perfection- Great snacks like pizza and little sandwichs totally fresh no matter what time of night. Cute little shops to stroll around. And that is only for ...
My wife and I and another couple went on this cruise. We live in Wilmington,De, so it was not more than a couple hours to get to the port ( Cape Liberty). We used a shuttle service which was really a nice way to go, as they drop you and your luggage off. At Cape Liberty Port, you had to take a shuttle bus to the main pier entrance for embarkation.
The ship itself was pretty nice considering its ...
Airport to port: the four of us took a taxi van which cost us $50.00 + $5.00 tolls + tip.
Cruise Port: Poorly organized. The shuttle to the ship does not start until 11:30 and not before.
Room: Our family had rooms next to each other. Upon opening room 1339 (10th floor), the smell was so bad it was uninhabitable. We were told to wait until 5:00 to find out if there were any available rooms. One ...
With 27 members of our family alongside, our cruise on the Explorer of the Seas had to be the most disappointing family cruise ever. And we have done many. As avid cruisers (more then 50 cruises for me and my wife) we expected a certain level of quality of food, entertainment, service and hospitality. All fell well short. Can you imagine having turkey served TWICE in nine days on what should be a ...
Just returned from the 5 day Bermuda cruise this morning! We had a wonderful time, with just a few suggestions that need improvement.
Embarkation: Overall, smooth.. however, having sailed out of Baltimore 3 times, it was a little more chaotic. I am not sure if this is because the ship holds more people, or the bottle-neck of having to park to unload, then go and park again and THEN having to take ...
The port is nice to travel from but alittle unorganized. Got on the ship and found the wind jammer packed with very seat taken. Since I cruised on the larger ships ( allure and oasis) for the passed few years, this ship seemed to be small and actually less crowd organized. They can learn something from the larger ship. The crew did work hard to make the cruise enjoyable but I think it's hard since ...
Having cruised for 35 years on a multitude of ships, I have seen the decline of the cruise experience first-hand. From the cheapening of the menu offerings to the boilerplate entertainment of second-rate comedians and under-rehearsed "broadway" revue type shows, to fewer and cheaper on-board activities and the relentless attempts to shake as much profit from such things as "premium" restaurants to ...
Royal Caribbean once again exceeded our expectations. The Explorer, soon to be refurbished at the end of the summer and possibly have a new itinerary in Europe, was fabulous in general, despite her age. We had read so many reviews, it was hard to know what to expect.
We had absolutely NO problem with embarkation in Bayonne. Every member of the staff that we encountered, without exception, was ...
I just returned today from the 9 day Caribbean cruise with my 2 teenagers age 18, along with my daughter's friend, age 19. We had an interior cabin for the girls, and a balcony cabin for my son and I, all on Deck 8. We have done this cruise twice before, with the exact itinerary 2 years ago. We cruise about every other year, so this is our 3rd cruise, all with RC, all on Explorer of the ...
Our room stewart was great, however...my sons clothes that were in a plastic bag..wet things etc....were accidentally thrown out and it contained new clothes. Not sure why it was thrown out...it was in the closet...so I was not happy about that at all...We also requested coffee at 7 am each morning to have to wake up and never got it...not once...Room service food not the greatest at all..better ...
