This was my "BIG 60" birthday cruise and honestly I thought that it would have been cancelled due to "foreseen" bad weather conditions. I picked this particular cruise because 1) I would be on the ship on my birthday 2) I don't like being on the water constantly (port stops are very important to me) 3) I have always preferred Royal Caribbean cruises until now. The food was excellent, activities weren't much, service was patronizing, some people you could tell were just going-through-the-motions, my cabin was average, I got locked out and waited nearly 1/2 hour to be let in, entertainment was wavering, some funny comedians caught my attention, but that was about it. I was thoroughly disgusted and disappointed.#stillam The cruise was not cancelled even though they knew the storm was coming and we were on the water quite a bit. I did not see any of the ports I chose, and I had to pay a WHOLE lot of money for this cruise trying to make it special for my birthday. DIDN'T HAPPEN!!! Other than Christmas, this is the only other time I celebrate big! So I REALLY needed it to be special...DIDN'T HAPPEN!!! I haven't heard a word back for the Cruise line although I have been sending emails and trying to contact them. My cruise was in September 2017, It's now February 2018. Because after several times cruising in the Caribbean we had not visited these islands in the Southern Caribbean. Also we were on a cruise in June 2017, with Royal Caribbean in Alaska, and booked this cruise. The cruise was scheduled to depart from Puerto Rico on the 16th of September. Days before the hurricane IRMA brushed Puerto Rico. We could see by the weather forecasts that Maria was forming in the Atlantic. We asked Royal Caribbean if we could cancel. The answer was NO. IRMA hit ST. Martin. That port was than taken off the cruise ports itinerary. I understand that decision. So now we are on the cruise and heading straight towards Hurricane Maria. Most passengers are concerned. Not a very good way to spend a vacation. The Captain was great in letting the passengers know of the situation. But that caused more anxiety with passengers. Now we are told that we we be arriving at St, Kitts, but only for fuel and supplies. We can't get off the ship and must leave in just 4 hours to race away from the hurricane. Full day and a half no sailing to Aruba and BonAire. 800 miles out of our way. Next day sailing until 3pm. Arrive at Aruba and now will stay overnight. No excursions planned or researched by us, so not really enjoyable as planned and paid for a different trip. Leave for Bonaire and start to hear about the damage from Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico (this is the port we are suppose to return to on Saturday). We are now told that we will not be able to return to Puerto Rico and must dock in Florida. All travel plans such as airfare, car rentals, hotel reservations etc. must be changed. Also we will have to be on the cruise for an extra day. I have been on 13 cruises and this was the worst by far. Royal Caribbean will not refund or compensate for any of the cruise. Some way we did not go to any of the ports on our schedule, because of Hurricane Maria. We paid for 6 we got 3. The real problem is that there were no options presented. Some of the wait staff were so busy having fun they ignored the guests. (Most were nice, friendly and accommodating though) The Flowrider was the best part of the experience. Alexandra and Levi and the rest of the team Scott, Joao the Ukranian and Romanian were delightful. These guys were patient. They worked with each person individually. The entire line was also encouraging to people participating on the thing. I'm surprised more people did not take advantage. Don't cruise with 3 with a balcony. The 3rd bed is hard as a rock. You'll have back problems. The shower head was great though. The shower is a bit tiny. As far as the food goes it's okay. But the best night was Caribbean night with oxtails, jerk chicken, peas and rice. Read Less

Sorry but no....the guests did NOT all agree. We had no choice but to go - Largely a "plug" for Royal and a complete write off. They had other ships from those cancelled cruises that could have come and taken an entire boat full of people. The supply they dropped was a JOKE. Our itinerary was changed before cruising to an overnight in Aruba, no St. Maartin. Ok, not a problem and we scheduled things to do that night and an excursion on the second Aruba day. We were checked in, on board, when the captain said there's a "slight" change. Going to St. Maartin, not spending the night in Aruba and Bonaire is changed to the last day. THERE WAS NOTHING SLIGHT ABOUT THAT CHANGE AND NOT ACCEPTABLE AFTER I'M CHECKED IN. People all over were rushing to cancel/change plans and excursions. Dropping down to the carpet with credit cards in hand hoping to get phone connection. I will never sail with them again. One of the pools was broke for a day, elevator was broke, air system broke in the promenade, buffet was gross (and I'm NOT a picky eater) and a good portion shows visible rust. Today I called to ask if what Royal is doing about this problem. - Bottom line, I missed a day, in (or not in) St. Maartin. The lady answering left me believe she had NO CLUE what I was talking about and said there's nothing in the system for compensation. I've been on about 15 cruises and I WILL AVOID this line if I can. One last thing. There were places that were GROSS. I celebrated a 40th birthday, had a bottle of champagne and a cigar from Cuba. The smoking table where we sat was disgusting, ALL AROUND US. We chose this cruise since we hear a lot of good things about this cruise line and their special program for children with Autism. We are impressed with the information in their website about this as we are traveling with our special needs son. We are excited that this cruise line will give our son the best cruise experience since the staff are trained in handling kids with Autism per their website advertisement - TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED! When we got to the ship, nobody knows about the program, even the supervisor. It was the Front Desk Manager who informed us that not all ships participate in the program. When we called customer service prior to sailing, we were informed otherwise. We were informed that there will be a special lane for us and that there will be a staff who will tour us around and tell us about the Autism Program that they have in the ship as well as special considerations with the Muster Drill. Toys specifically for the Autistic Kids as well as TV channel for them. This is was we were expecting but nothing of it exist when we got to the ship. The Guest Services Manager who called us after we left a message to RC's Facebook page informed us that somebody from concierge services will talk to us at the end of the cruise to guide us with the disembarkation process - NOBODY called us at the end of the cruise. We are very, very disappointed with our experience as well as how staff handled our issues. Dining room experience was not at par with other cruise lines. The service was not personal. We were not even addressed by our first name by our waiters. Food took long to be served and the dining experience will last for 1.5 to 2 hours! I choose Royal Caribbean because i traveled before with them and the experience was excellent. The food quality and taste is really superior with a variety of foods from where to choose that includes low calories, vegetarian and kids menu. The Ship has plenty of things to do for the youngest to the oldest, pools, slides, casino, night clubs, the stores and the shows... The library, arcade, movies on the giant screen near the pools. The solarium where you can get away and have some quiet time by the pool or just read a book or take a nap. There was something to do always. The people who works on this cruise are passionate with what they are doing and it shows on the treatment and service you get. The ship shows an excellent maintenance inside and outside, it looks clean and you always see someone making sure of it. While in the port you may see personal washing the windows and painting or repairing whatever needs some care. My experience in the embarkation and disembarkation process was a good one, it went smoothly and took no more than 30 minutes. I am planning to take another Cruise with my wife, my son and his wife and children and I will definitely choose Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

Cruise with singles group. Food quality is far worse than Dennys or Waffle House. Stop charging $8 for room service, Johnny Rockets should also be free, I though food was included in the basic fare. Well it isn't anymore! Wait times in main dining room over an hour and a half to get a dried out shoe leather steak. Worst ever! Scandaless! Check in (San Juan) horribly disorganized, huge lines, one after another. No idea which line to join, no idea where to drop luggage, people in lines very very unhappy. Terminal in San Juan is just a metal shed, how about a nicer building? Ship is very dated, built in the 90's and it shows. Does not come close to modern design. Get rid of this class! Build more Oasis class ships. RCCL used to be my favorite line, but you have fallen to last place now. Carnival is far better in every way. Read Less

Willi from philly in the main dinning room along with his additional staff was the only thing that made our trip worth wild. All the rest of the staff besides a handful of bartenders including marlin from the pool bar our stateroom arrendeent, flowrider and rock climbing personnel were rude short and unfriendly! The few mentioned above were the only ones who cared to talk to guest. With a party of 16 the first thing I did when we got on the ship at noon was go straight to the main pool and tip one of the servers 60$ and told him to please take care of us and we will continue to take care of him.. this particular server never returned and was rude and every day after that we saw him.. we cruise several times a year and this was my first experience on royal Caribbean and it was horrible... not to mention the only reason I booked this cruise along with 15 others was for st Lucia to hike the pitons and my son was planning on proposing on top which st Lucia was planned out and then the ship decides to inform us on a damn flyer that was handed out while boarding that st Lucia was no longer a stop... they never even had the Courtesy to verbally tell the guest of course no one in my group took this well because they all knew my sons plan. Him and his girl friend wanted to do this cruise so they could go back to st Lucia one more time for the climb it was absolutely beautiful their and we flew from FL to PR jut for st Lucia we could of easily taken a cruise out of FL if not for that... lastly due to everyone being pissed off we went to the pool started drinking and having fun now mind you our group all consisted of family including grandparents our group was in no way rude disrespectful or inappropriate yes we were drunk but it's a cruise and we all purchased the drink package so I think that's allowed but we were all standing and communicating without a problem the only person that was overly intoxicated was my sons girl friends grandmother who did not make it to the safety meeting due to being sick... security then decided to put a hold on my entire parties drink packages and would not let us have a drink or get off at the port until we had a "meeting" I just don't understand this no one was in danger or rude I have seen much more intoxicated people on a cruise. A handful of people were not even intoxicated they put the drunk people to sleep but yet you felt it was okay to decline their 363$ drink package! This is not to mention my shower backing up and flooding the bathroom every day and I requested it to be fixed every day and the day before the cruise is over it gets fixed, 2 month old milk in fridge/cooler, dirt in the bed and nasty room. Passengers were the crew's number one priority. They were always pleasant and bent over backwards to please us. Rooms were clean, food was excellent, activities were wonderful. I was disappointed with the Love and Marriage show. A couple people used very vulgar language and I hope no children were present. I realize Royal Caribbean had no control over what came out of their mouths but the people could have been briefed better prior to the show, letting them know this was a family show and no vulgar language should be used. This would not stop me from cruising with Royal Caribbean but it may deter me from attending that venue again. Also, I think you should put a clock in the Solarium pool area. Every time I wanted to know the time I had to walk over to the main pools deck. I also don't like the way you do bingo now. We played only one game "the letter T". It used to be we played many more games and had more chances to win. It was very unorganized and we got started very late. It was 4:45 and they were still selling cards. Read Less

Most unenjoyable cruise I have ever been on. The food was average except for the specialty restaurant which was what I remember as the quality on past cruises I have taken. Now however, it costs an additional $80.00 and the waiter expects an additional tip over and above the amount included in the std fare and in the the upgrade to specialty dining. The cabin furniture was the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced in any hotel or ship I can remember. At 5' 7" I could not even stretch out on the couch! The balcony furniture was extremely hard and difficult to sit/lie on! Requests to address remote control issues, coffee maker issues went unaddressed. We were provided bed sheets one evening with holes and stains on them. The arrival transfer to the ship required a walk of several hundred yards with baggage in tow, along with my walker and was difficult to navigate! Many staff, not all, were disinterested in offering any assistance to disabled guests. Dealing with rude customers while in a scooter was also an immense challenge. elevators that passed our floor empty were another mystery, while we waited minutes to go up or down. I have no option of using stairs! Changes were made to RCL policies after booking was made - room service charges. Beverage policies the most obnoxious I can imagine. Water at a cost of nearly $80 per case in the room is unconscionable. As a person requiring medication, and drinking from the in room water, it may have contributed to my illness on the last day of the cruise. The only saving grace was head waiter George!
