Cruise was overcrowded to the point that you have to waited over a 30 minutes everywhere in ship even in the pool which is ridiculous. The ship had 6 hot tubs all of them overcrowded and children under 7 years will not allow adults to get in it cause it was a small pool to them to jump and play around and stafff will not remove them or said anything to them. Children were running around the ship until 1AM or later. The Food was plain and not Flavor or neither taste in the windjamme. The main dinner time due to overcrowded prior reservation to the cruise were not accepted therefore you had to do a reservation everyday by12 PM if not you have to wait for over an hour to eat dinner which was ridiculous. I was disappointed at the overall service specially I never found so many nasty atittude bartenders in a cruise ship - I have experienced. If you going into this trip make sure you use the casino bar - it was the only bartender who was attentive and courteous. Due to all the waiting around the ship, we had to take the elevators continuously in order not to waisted 30 minutes to get to a different floor. Read Less

We chose this cruise for a celebration of birthdays in my family. We cruise 1-2 times per year on a variety of cruise lines. I have been on rccl only on chartered trips for company conventions and it was a totally different experience then. This cruise left NJ which was actually great. Nice weather heading out. BUT as day one went on we began to realize how poorly this ship is layed out. The rooms have been jammed with passengers and there is nowhere to put them all. Our room (a balcony) has three people and the pull down is over the main bed so we smack our heads every time we sit up. You can’t get a table, a chair or a place to sit no matter where you go. Even dinner reservations have us waiting 50 minutes in line. The only main dining room is Sapphire and it is always a wait. Any time dining is not any time. You still have to make a reservation or you wait hours. They don’t tell you this and in the first night we ended up with nothing but the buffet for dinner unless we waited until 9 with a child. None of the show times coordinate with anything else and you can’t make any of them. The only dinner time we could get for the week was 7:30 and the shows are 7 or 9 if any. The performers are great, but do the same thing every night. No comedy clubs or variety like other cruise lines offer. The public washrooms are almost always half out of order and gross. Every toilet on the ship stinks of old pee, including in the staterooms. We have a drink package and there are only two pool bars. The waiters hardly ever come by and the bar lineup is always insane. Every night at some point we are given a cheap wine which isn't what we ordered. You can't get near the pool bars most of the time without waiting 15 minutes. Port Canaveral is the worst port that I have ever been to. We attempted to get off and discovered that without a $50 cab ride there is nothing at the port. I mean nothing. It is literally a cruise terminal in the middle of nowhere. CocoCay is beautiful. We had bad weather when we were there so we didn't get to enjoy it much, but it was excellent. Nassau was amazing as always. Disembarkation was brutal. We chose the self serve walk off because we drove 9 hours to the port and wanted to be able to get on the road (without a flight they had us scheduled at 9:30 to disembark). They were unprepared for the crowd who chose self service and started moving everyone down a floor without telling them that they would then have to get upstairs again to get off. We all waited stuffed like sardines for over an hour to get off. People were yelling at each other, it was awful. Huge let down unfortunately. This is my 12th cruise (3rd with Royal) and first disappointment. Will not do Royal Caribbean again after this experience. Read Less

I chose Royal Caribbean because I have been on many cruises before and I never had a problem. This cruise was different......the weather was horrible( not Royal Carribean fault) It was Mothers Day and we were not told children cruised for FREE!!!(to many kids) I chose my time dinning and was treated different. I was asked where I sat the night before??? Why? The entertainment was far and few. On Deck 11 I sat on a lounger ( one of the two sunny days we had) and was told I could not sit in that section unless I had a GOLD card. I told the gentlemen I was a platinum card holder. He told me I could not sit there unless I had a gold card. Almost all of thoses seats remained opened all day. There was a charge for Johnny Rockets food. I only had to pay for the soda and milk shakes before. The casino had so many machines that were not working and since it was raining everyone was there. Needless to say you stood in line to get a machine. When I disembarked I went to the floor I was told to go. When I tried to leave the elevator there were so many people standing there I could barely get out. No one was around to instruct people where to go. Very frustrating!!!!!! Read Less

I have sailed on RC before..... it was great. This time, food was HORRIBLE, filthy public bathrooms, short staffed, ran out of vodka to take home, inconsistent air conditioning, areas of the ship smelled like a cesspool, no ventilation in elevators, no coffee etc by pools, had to walk soooooo far for a coffee or iced tea etc., waited 10-15 minutes to get a drink at the bar at dinnertime. When I boarded, they gave us the wrong room and I spent the entire first day online at guest services trying to straighten it out. But I still CANNOT GET OVER HOW BAD THE FOOD WAS. The only positive I can think of is that the staff was wonderful, polite, cheerful and very accommodating. I will not be sailing RC anytime soon. Celebrity or even Carnival for me. It seems they are cutting amenities so they can save money to build new ships. Read Less

We choose this cruise for the affordability and because we have been wanting to try Royal Caribbean. The service from our state room attendant, Byron, and our waiter in the main dining room, Michael, were excellent and very attentive! The ship was clean and we enjoyed the shows. We were disappointed with the food - it lacked flavor and tasted like it was mass produced. The crab cakes were made with imitation crab and the pasta was undercooked. Dessert presentation was beautiful but the taste was artificial, with the exception of the apple pie which was delicious. The lamb and the beef were excellent. My husband enjoyed the roasted chicken. Breakfast in the Windjammer was the highlight. We were disappointed in breakfast in the dining room. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was flavorless and the eggs were overcooked. The hash brown was soggy underneath a grilled tomato. There was only one small place to get food after 9:00 and the line was very long. The pizza was soggy and tasted like cardboard. The frozen drinks were inconsistent - we have several that were very good but for the most part they lacked flavor and tasted watered down. We did not have a drink plan and found that we did fine with water, lemonade, and iced tea. That being said, we spent a lot for one alcoholic drink and expected it to be flavorful. We enjoyed the shows on board. There was good variety and the performers were very talented. Embarkment was smooth as was disembarkation. The muster drill was tough - had to stand in rows through explanation in 2 languages. It was hot and if in the back part very clausterphobic. Would suggest dividing people by language if possible. The spa was nice but they try to sell you stuff when you leave. I had a great massage. My husband's was not as good and he was in a room where he could hear door closing and talking from other rooms; not so relaxing. We received an anniversary special for $50 off a spa treatment but it was a port day only and we had already had our port day! So it was useless. Read Less

I was counting down the days until this cruise was over. I brought my 2 year old daughter with me, as well as, my mother. Getting on the ship would have been good but we dealt with some rude people telling us to "hurry up" and putting us in the wrong line and so on.This cruise ship is very hard to navigate with a stroller, wheelchair, etc. Hardly any activities for 2 year olds. The one thing she could do was swim in the kiddie section on nice days but it was too small and too crowded. On cold and windy days it was very hard to find something for her to do. Some staff members were amazing, while others were down right rude. I had tried the flow rider for the first time and the female staff member "helping" me was getting annoyed with me because I was struggling. Most of the staff in the windjammer were great. Food was okay. Seemed like the same food everyday just about. They misplaced my luggage on the last day. I waited a good 45 minutes before they found it. All while trying to keep my daughter happy. I would not recommend this ship. Read Less

I haven't sailed with Royal Caribbean in a number of years and was anxious to try one of their newer ships, Adventure of the Seas. I had not been to 3 of the 4 destinations before and that was a factor in choosing this particular sailing from April 7-14, 2018. I had not been to St. Kitts before and was excited to check out the best possibilities for excursions that would interest me. I found one on their website that offered a 30 mile round trip train ride around the island for $109 pp. My friend and I took the excursion, and were surprised that the van driver told us the train portion had been reduced to 18 miles and a partial island tour due to the fact previous customers complained they got back to the ship and missed lunch. One woman narrated from the top of the first railroad car, attempting to tell people in five cars what we were seeing, but due to the loud creaking of the railcars, and the poor quality of the audio system, we couldn't hear anything about St. Kitts. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. When I approached the Shore Excursion Desk and requested a refund, I was told I could get a 20% discount but not a refund. Freddy wasn't a bit concerned about my situation and neither was his manager. A reputable company would have handled this situation differently instead of protecting a vendor who doesn't provide what's paid for. The food in the dining room was never warm. Our waiter made numerous mistakes the first night and kept apologizing to the point where he was annoying. The food at the buffet wasn't much better with kids touching and putting back food items. An ideal buffet would be like Holland America where staff doles out portions of food and guests don't touch anything. Activities were geared toward younger families and children with not much to do for seniors. The theater was large with comfortable seating, but we were surprised that not one show was even close to being half filled. The only good show was the ice performance. It will be a long time, if ever, that I'll sail with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

Wow, the phrase: "You Have Got to be Kidding" came out a lot. This was our first RC cruise and didn't know what to expect. For starters, the RC website was cumbersome to use, having to log in multiple times on one session was annoying. I uploaded id photos a number of times and looks like they finally were accepted, only to have our pictures taken again at check-in. We really liked the touch-screen maps on the ship, they were helpful. I wish they had rolled out the app for all of their ships, it's a great feature on the Carnival ships. The major disappointment was the food we received in the dining room, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our dinner table mates, who have taken RC before, also mentioned the food was bland and not up to their usual standards. Breakfast on the first sea day, the buffet/a-la-carte was new to us and we did the a-la-carte. the server gave my wife a hard time, because she ordered things that could be obtained from the buffet, why have a menu? We're on a nice cruise and didn't want to deal with a server giving us attitude, we can get that at home. She was giving others a hard time too. The first three dinners the food was BLAND at best (color, taste, texture), we expected to be blown away by the food. A highlight was the Cafe Promenade, it was quick and everything but the pizza was good. Though we only ate lunch in the dining room once, it was equally sad. It wasn't until the fourth night that we actually got a good meal, we got in late due to recuperating from a shore excursion, so we did the my time dining and got a great serving team. Karl helped us order off menu and we got the Indian vegetarian meal that the crew gets. It was the bomb and ordered the Indian vegetarian the rest of the trip (definitely not bland). The fitness center was great, one downside was if you showed up at 6:00 am, you couldn't get a locker until 7:30. Also, there wasn't any water to take to-go. Had to go, all sweaty, to the Cafe Promenade on deck 5 to get a glass of water. Also enjoyed the skating show and the piano bar. We were very pleased about the clientele, especially since it was spring break. we appreciated the way the ship manages children's entertainment, it was much better than expected. The food and food service really put us off, there was A LOT to like about the ship, but the dining room experience was a huge disappointment. Read Less

We have several previous cruises on RCC as well as all the other competitors. Our very first cruise was with RCC and we had an amazing vacation. Regretfully, every sailing on RCC since has been a huge disappointment. The March 24, 2018 Caribbean from San Juan was no exception. First, I must credit our stateroom attendant and wait staff as they were wonderful and a pleasure to have serving us. They were a lot of fun and they would go out of their way to assure we had a great experience. However, aside from the individuals assigned to my family of 6 (3 state rooms), the lack of customer service was evident on many levels. Our issues started when we booked this trip. RCC canceled a previous cruise 24 hours before the scheduled sailing because of a hurricane. While most would reasonably understand the need to cancel for a hurricane, RCC delayed their decision until the last possible minute when Disney, NCL and Carnival canceled their departures 3 days prior. This had forced us to travel into an area expecting a category 4 hurricane, taking away needed hotel rooms and other resources for those living in Florida. RCC would not, even with travel insurance refund the cost of the cruise should we choose not to sail. Rather, the only way to get a refund is of they canceled the voyage. Therefore, not wanting to risk several thousand dollars, we rolled the dice and ended up sitting in a hotel room for 4 days as RCC first delayed the 4-day voyage by one day before canceling all together less than 24 hours before the original sail time. To compensate for the "inconveniences" RCC issued $100 stateroom credits for an upcoming sailing. A rather paltry gesture considering our losses in hotel rooms and airline change fees. Getting the credits applied is another headache which judging by other reviews, has become rather common practice with RCC. Before making the booking, I phoned RCC to verify the credits. I was told the $100.00 stateroom credit would apply to "all guests" in my party. Since there would be 6 of us in three staterooms I explained this and the agent verified all would receive the credit. I called a second time and was given the exact same information so I booked the cruise which was just under $5,000 In order to have the credit applied, I needed to call another department along with the reservation number. This is when the problems began. RCC suddenly changed their position and not would only apply a credit to my wife and I. Since I recorded both my discussions, I know the agents whom I spoke along with the date and time called making it very easy for RCC to listen for themselves what was promised. However, RCC refused nor did they have any intention in honoring this. Back on Adventure of the Seas. The food was inconsistent from day-to-day. One night it would be prepared well and the next evening it would not. We are not very picky and did not feel the need to send anything back. My only point is the quality of food seemingly decreases each time we sail. Windjammer is a typical buffet. We typically love to eat in the restaurant for breakfast as compared to the buffet but after the second day, we could not be bothered. The woman who would ask how many was in your party was nasty, unpleasant and if your entire party was not together, would refuse to seat you. One morning our daughter was in the rest room just outside the restaurant and we were refused seating until she presented herself. Long waits to get the food and it appeared RCC cut back on staffing for breakfast. Since this is never the fault of the servers, we certainly would not complain to them. This is a leadership issue. Probably the most frustrating component to the entire vacation was disembarkation. As stated earlier, there were 6 people on our reservation in 3 cabins. However, we were given 3 different times to disembark. 7:45am, 8:15am and 9:15 am. At 7:45 am we were told the entire party would have to wait until 9:15 am. Since I had arranged for car service to drive us around Puerto Rico for the day, we scrambled to contact the driver who patiently waited 1.5 hours until we got off. A Porter grabbed our bags and assisted through Customs. It was not until we were loading luggage into the car I realized my Travel Pro suitcase had an 18" rip down the side of the bag. Not the condition I left it the evening prior outside our cabin. I immediately called RCC from the car and after explaining the details, I was told without me returning to the cruise terminal and completing a damage report there was little they could do. So I asked "After spending $5,000 on the cruise and another $2,400 onboard expenses, you are going to tell me that after damaging my bag there is nothing you can do?" "All this over a $350.00 bag?" The agent walked his position back a little and said to take pictures and get a replacement cost so he could "go to bat" for me. Upon getting home, I found the exact same bag on sale at Macy's for $258.00. I sent in all requested images and pricing. The response I received was "Well, I cannot give you the $258.00 so please what you believe is fair." My response was "What is fair is you replace what you damaged. What is even more fair is I found the same bag almost $100.00 off on sale. But in the interest of putting this matter to rest, I would accept $200.00. Two weeks and three e-mails later, I finally received the credit to my account along with a message of how RCC was doing me a favor without the damage report. I would not recommend RCC. In fact, our favorite cruises have always been on Disney. You cannot beat their customer service and when you need anything or anything resolved, the level of service you receive cannot be compared to RCC. In fact, we have placed Carnival well ahead of RCC as well as NCL. Read Less

The horror began with cancellation of the originally scheduled trip, February 2018. On 26 April we were advised the ship would be taken out of service, at the peak of vacation season to install a Japanese Specialty restaurant. As our group consisted of 12 people, rebooking at a good time was impossible. So, we were forced to book a trip for 10-17 MARCH. This was during spring break for a lot of schools which resulted in an extreme amount of children on the ship. They were no provided with their own separate section so they were at the main pool area during the entire cruise. In addition, RCCL built a "kiddie pool" with a water slide immediately adjacent to the main pool. Another side result was that one of the two main pools were shout down for 3 straight days due to "accidents", requiring draining, cleaning and sanitizing of those pools. Cuts were obviously made to staff as our dinner, easily took 2 hours plus, to complete every night. It was obvious that there was insufficient staff. We purchased the unlimited drink package also. It was really a marginal decision as my wife and I are not heavy drinkers but the package included fresh squeezed orange juice, so that made the decision easier. Unfortunately, the orange juice was not available 3 of the days pf the cruise. Upon arrival, we asked for Pina Coladas but they were not available. One of our group members cabins had a water leek the last 2 days of the cruise. Fortunately it was not sewage water but still an inconvenience. To top of the experience, my wife and I incurred $1000 in fees and increased fare costs from the change of airlines and were advised we would only be reimbursed $400, leaving us $600 in the hole. We are Diamond Class members with over 20 trips under our belt. We returned to RCCL due to their quality cruise package in earlier years. As I told RCCL rep, it is ironic that the lack of quality in recent years will be the reason we WILL NOT ever return to their line. Read Less
