We are experienced cruisers over the last 20 years. We have been on the Jewel before doing the cruise to the Southern Caribbean. I am retired but my wife is still working. We like to get away from Boston and head to the Caribbean. Jet Blue does a great job in getting us from Logan airport to San Juan. The connections by RCI to get us to the boat are always good. We got to the boat by late ...

This was our second Cruise on Jewels of the Seas out of seven cruises with RCI. Jewels is our favorite ship, the staff are awesome, they spend a little more time with you then on the bigger ships. It's just far more intimate and friendly. The food was wonderful, the wait staff attentive and personable. Entertainment was also very good, this is perhaps the one area that the newer larger ships are ...

Great Ports, Average Service, Some Slip Ups

We are first time RCI cruisers, prior cruises 4 on Disney, 1 Princess, 2 Carnival. I don't want to be unfair, but I was a bit let down re RCI--I am hopeful it was just this ship since we have a cruise booked in April on Allure. The Windjammer food was just "ok" and I say that as someone who is not picky and liked the other cruise line food--even Carnival was quite good. I didn't think RCI ...

The Jewel of the Seas is a great ship and was the smallest ship of Royal Caribbean that we have yet to sail on, and we very much enjoyed it. Previously we have sailed on the Navigator of the Seas (4 times), Oasis of the Seas and the Allure of the Seas. the bigger ships have lots of amenities, but also lots of people. I would definitely choose the Jewel over either of the Oasis class ships. The ...

Transatlantic Cruise From Italy-San Juan

We are seasoned cruisers but this was our first Transatlantic. There were well over 700 Diamond Members on this cruise. They were more than willing to share their extensive cruise experiences, best ports of call and travel tips. Embarkation at Civitavecchia was very efficient. Entire process took less than 15 minutes. The Jewel was very well maintained and very clean. The Jewel is a ...

I chose the cruise because I liked the itinerary. I spent 3 days in Rome before the cruise. Ports were Valencia, Lisbon, Ponta Delgada. The cruise ended in San Juan. There were plenty of activities to do. The last few days of the cruise, the cruise director, Dennis Charles, formed a passenger choir which kept growing each day. We sang Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music the last night. One of the ...

With the exception of the nightly shows, we did not take part in any of the ship's activities but the activities arranged with our CC friends kept us busy. We held a cabin crawl, slot pull, luncheon and gift exchange, LCR and game days, private Chef's Tables and wine dinner, and astronomy lectures by Fred, the astronomy guy, who volunteered his own time to present fascinating slides and ...

Great Transatlantic cruise, nice ports of call, beautiful refurbished ship. Food in main dining room sub-par, though, and disappointing. Super, good-sized room, very clean. Calm seas, and warm temperatures, especially for November, would highly recommend a November transatlantic that travels southwest to Puerto Rico, surprisingly nice weather. Even swimming weather! As for entertainment in the ...

This was our second transatlantic on RCI. In comparing to our last RCI transatlantic on Mariner OTS in 2013, we noticed quite a few changes......some not for the better. OVERALL: Just average. No WOW factor that Royal uses in their marketing. We traveled with another couple who had been on only one other cruise on Carnival. (They thought all cruises involved screaming children, belly flop ...

Liked the itinerary on the first leg of the trip. October 27 -November 6,2016 Took back to back. This was November 6- 18,2016 It was a transatlantic from Rome to San Juan ,PR. The person asking trivia questions had such a thick accent. It took 45 minutes sometimes just to understand a 15 question trivia. Almost everyday there were major publications errors. Days at sea were listed as ...
