Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Jewel of the Seas

We chose this cruise due to the timing and itinerary. We had previously been on RC and were interested to see what the current ships and activities were like. Not impressed with the ship. Needs lots of work with cloudy windows, plumbing issues, stained toilets, damaged mirrors etc. We liked the itinerary. Ports were good and the tenders well organized. There is not enough time allocated to ...

The ship was well equipped & clean - staff couldn't do enough to ensure a happy holiday. However BEWARE of the finances-I'm still trying to sort whether RCCL or Mastercard Cashpassport has taken money from the debit card supplied at the start of the cruise. Each is blaming the other. Avoid the drinks package & just budget for your daily estimated need e.g. wine at dinner, cocktail of the day and a ...

As soon as we entered our cabin bathroom we smelled sulfur& chlorine. Our six table mates did also but none of the employees seemed to notice. We had a lovely cabin with a balcony, well worth the splurge. Our cabin stewart was very nice,as was our head waiter. Food on this cruise was mostly average. One of my main complaints was the difficulty getting good drinking water;several areas would not ...

We were a party of seven -- two parents/grandparents plus five young folks on a 9 day Mediterranean cruise. The Jewel of the Seas was refurbished in April, so it was in beautiful shape. Royal Caribbean put five of us in their new Two Bedroom Family Suite -- Stateroom 1054 -- which has two bedrooms, a large living room with sleep sofa and can sleep 8 and has a curved 5 floor-to-ceiling ...

This was our first cruise and not sure what to expect. Boy! We were not disappointed. After an upsetting start to the day (our friends luggage had not arrived at the airport), we missed out on the "wow" factor when arriving at the ship, but once settled and after exploring the ship we were overwhelmed by the décor and friendliness of the staff. We chose this cruise for the destinations and ...

Spectacular Ship

I wanted to sail on a ship that wasn't so immense. My cabin was on the 7th deck near to the elevators and it had a beautiful balcony. Needless to say, the ocean and night sky view were there for us every single night with no obstructions. Right outside the door were computers that were accessible to guests. After being in Rome, I was looking forward to the peace and tranquility of the ship ...

Having been with Royal Caribbean before we were expecting the same standard of entertainment, food and overall standard of boat. We where disappointed with everything apart from the excursions. The boat was very tired and in need of an update. Our room had a smelly bathroom, the sink did not drain away the water very well. The service in the dining room for breakfast was very slow waited an ...

We travelled on a back to back cruise on the Jewel of the Seas in September 2016. The cruises had excellent itineraries of the Western and Eastern Mediterranean both of which were different with amazing ports of call. The ship was well maintained and beautifully appointed. Many spaces had been newly renovated. All the staff was exceptional both friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much for ...

Great itinerary but wouldn't choose the Jewel again

We have taken 16 cruises, 5 of them previously with RCI. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, which was very good. Embarkation was smooth in Rome and luggage was delivered within a couple of hours. Junior Suite stateroom 1598 was great, very large with tons of storage and a decent bathroom. Balcony was double length, it is described as obstructed, but this is NOT a problem, the ...

Nice Cruise on the Jewel

Last cruise was almost 20 years ago so we are newbies to cruising. Embarkation and disembarkation were both very smooth with no waiting. We boarded around noon and cabins were ready by 1:00 pm. Our luggage was waiting for us when we arrived. Disembarkation was super well organized! The service was good everywhere but the cafe could have used another one or two more staff, especially in the ...
