Average Ship, Excellent Staff

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Jewel of the Seas

The Cruise ship is average. Travelled Family of 4, 2 balcony cabins. Ship was standard medium size cruise ship. We arrived at around 2.30pm and obtained the bags around 6pm. The cabin was a small balcony cabin could have done with a bit of a revamp as a bit dated. Small details like remote control on the TV did not work, we only used the TV to check the days activites and the bill for the ...

A good cruise, but had some concerns.

Overall the cruise was good, but there were some aspects we were disappointed with. The ship is beautiful and we were happy with our accommodations – the balcony stateroom and balcony were large and clean. However, the meals in the Tides Dining Hall were average at best. We ate dinner there 3 times, and I only liked the entrée once, that was the tiger shrimp. The appetizers and desserts were ...

We had a wonderful cruise!!!!!! Let's me just begin by saying there was a group of 25 of us so not always easy getting 25 people together and agreeing on one thing! We did and all enjoyed ourselves! Embarkation was the easiest time ever, we arrived and through security on the ship in like 15 minutes! It was GREAT!!!! We were not able to get into our cabins until 100pm so went and had ...

Ship had a reno just a few months ago most if not almost all of the money went into lobby restaurant area. Only thing done in the state rooms is new TV's. This was our third cruise with Royal Caribbean and after two years with Celebrity it was a big let down. We were a party of eight with half of them been first time cruisers. The MDR staff were poor and only for the efforts of the assistant waiter things would have worse. We had three inside cabins and two of them had constant plumbing issues. The ship seemed to have a major plumbing problem ...

Bad Start, Excellent Staff, Service and Food; Not Enough Sun Beds!

First the bad news. Although not a veteran of the seas (five cruises in 10 years) I was generally expecting more from a company like Royal Caribbean. My previous jaunts were on Celebrity, Carnival and Fred Olsen but was led to believe that RC was a cut above them. We chose this cruise as it fitted in with the fixed days off we had with our leave and had no flexibility. We boarded at 11.15 ...

A Disappointing Cruise to Greece

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Jewel of the Seas

The cruise was disappointing in that it didn't satisfy the itinerary. Due to weather conditions (high winds), we could not dock in Mykonos. There must be a back-up plan in such instances, since this is the third time it has happened in the last 2 months according to the staff. The reason for taking this cruise was the port of calls in Santorini and Mykonos. Also we learned after the cruise ...

We arrived in Rome the 2und of July and stayed at hotel Ariston in Rome nearby the termini station. After a good night sleep, we took the train to the port. Embarkation was easy and fast. Jewel of the Seas was the smallest boat we ever took on a cruise, but the greatest one. Thanks to Royal Caribbean! Great people onboard, always kind and always trying to help when we need. Even in ...

We have sailed RCI several times and absolutely love the ships, service, food, the works. We planned this cruise for a 10 year wedding anniversary trip so we splurged on a Grand Suite. We absolutely LOVED the suite and plan to stay in that category again. However, the one drawback for this ship and others of it's size is the lack of dedicated space for suite guests on the deck in sun loungers. ...

Overall Good Experience with Traveler Tips

The ship was upgraded with much nicer common areas, although hallways and bathroom floors did not look as clean in all cases. Telephone equipment also very dated but that probably doesn't matter as much since people don't tend to use the ship phones to dial outside the ship anymore. My family enjoyed the destinations. We booked our excursions separately from the ship to save money. We booked ...
