The good and the bad of Nautica

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Nautica

WE chose the Baltic cruise because we liked the itinerary and wanted to try Oceania Cruiseline. We like the smaller ships and this fit the need. The ship itself is well maintained and the common areas are nice. I am a blackjack player so I did enjoy the casino on this ship. Our cabin was nice we were on the concierge Veranda which gave us 4 nights in the speciality restaurants, there was a ...

Wonderful cruise!

Three days in St Petersburg is what drew us to this particular cruise. From the moment we stepped on board, we felt like family. Everyone was so pleasant -- the crew and the passengers! Our cabin attendant was very pleasant and knew our names and faces from the get-go; she often greeted us by name as we went down the hallways. We were disappointed that we didn't get to Riga due to rough ...

Great itinerary

We chose this for the fabulous itinerary, ending up with three sunny days in St Petersburg. The tours were good, the on-board lectures about our destination were outstanding. The food was excellent, especially in the specialty restaurants, which proved quite easy to book. The passengers were mostly American, and not as old and decrepit as you get on some ships; there were also quite a few ...

Great ports of call and selected excursions on a smaller ship

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Nautica

This was two ports in Scotland, three in Ireland plus Iceland and Greenland and Fareo islands. The North Atlantic was rough but we endured. We knew the smaller 55 thousand ton ship would have pluses and minuses, so our expectations were met. PLUSES: No crowded decks. Easy on and off. Well organized excursions. Open seating. Excellent food service. Helpful crew and staff. MINUSES: Limited ...

Recognizing that at any given time, the Wait Staff on a cruise ship is almost always in flux, we got the feeling many of the staff had just reported in for their first contract. HMCSBN nailed it on the crush for a table and the problems in the main dining room. The two specialty restaurants were outstanding with the Italian one the better of the two. The cleaning staff was impeccable, timely ...

Lots of sea days with rough weather made the twenty days feel long

Having been on many cruises booked this one on a whim a bit too late for a good cabin. We thought we would not care on this itinerary since it would be too cold for a balcony--it was --but our mid-ship low deck cabin would become an inside cabin as the porthole window was often closed in bad weather. An advantage was we had litttle of the motion affected the higher lever cabins. We had Oceania ...

The itinerary was of great interest to us and we were not disappointed. The captain had to make some last minute changes to the order of ports visited and duration of stay due to events beyond his control, his decisions were well made and maximized passenger experiences. Bravo! This was our first time in a stern cabin ..... great views and wonderful balcony space! Staff are exemplary! ...

Oceania has changed

We have cruised twice before on Oceania: once on Marina and once before on Nautica. While the itinerary was great, the food service was lacking. We enjoyed the ports of call and took a number of ship sponsored tours and found them all to be of good quality. The ship and its cabins are nice and the personnel all provided great service. But we felt that the service and quality of the dining ...

Northern Exploration - A great cruise above the Arctic Circle

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Nautica

The reasons we booked this cruise was because it was Oceania, the itinerary (going above the Artic Circle), no photographers, few children and no up-selling. We have cruised with Oceania quite a few times and enjoy the size of the ships, the atmosphere and the service. We did arrive in Copenhagen a day early which gave us time to help some with the jet lag and to explore the city some. We ...

Land of the midnight sun

We decided to take the trip on the Nautica vs. other cruise lines visiting Norway because it included a trip over the top of Norway into the Barents Sea and the White Sea, with port stops in Murmansk, Arkhangelsk and the Solovetsky Islands in Russia. We stayed overnight in Copenhagen the night before embarkation. It was cool and raining the day we arrived, but bright and sunny on our ...
