Decent time let down by the ship

Just returned from ten night cruise from Southampton taking in Holland and Norway. First time with MSC and will be the last time with MSC. Having cruised with other cruise lines I think by now I have gained a fair old idea of what these companies have to offer us and on the whole they normally give you a fantastic cruise experience from lovely prepared food to great on board entertainment, this ...

Lots of good points - but quite a few bad ones too!

MSC has some pretty bad reviews, and I'm pleased to report that we had a very pleasant time on board Opera. However, it was not all plain sailing, if you'll excuse the pun. So let's start with the bad points and if you feel you can stomach those, I shall move on to the good points. The biggest minus for us was the very poor vegetarian food. Meat and fish eaters are very well catered for, but poor ...

GO AND BREAK A LEG

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on MSC Opera

We have just returned from a cruise on the OPERA. The best advise I can give to anyone who is booked to go on this trip, is to break a leg or similar, anything to avoid having to go on this ship. our trip was a catalogue of disaster from the moment we stepped on board. Regarding the food, a welcome buffet consisted of cold half cooked burgers of some discription with cold chips. If only we had ...

A dream holiday on MSC Opera

My wife and I have just returned from an outstanding cruise. Yes the embarkation process took time simply due to the fact that the majority of passengers arrived at virtually the same time. However, we were all processed with courtesy and in an efficient manner. Our cabins were ready and lunch was available. The emergency drill was carried out with efficiency and all instructions were very ...

Bad Experience

Having sailed on the Opera 2 years we expected the same experience but were sadly disappointed. We were a group of 6 adults who have travelled with MSC several times in the past. After going through MSC boarding procedures and then through security provided by (CPK United Nederland BV) I inadvertently left a hip belt on the Xray belt. Upon boarding the ship five minutes later I advised the ship ...

I have just returned from a two night cruise from Southampton to Guernsey on the MSC Opera and it was a total shambles from beginning to end. Luckily some of our party had arrive earlier than us and secured our waiting number to check in but they and everybody else had to wait three hours. There were not enough staff to cope as the ship was I am told fully booked. There were only two waiters in ...

No improvement after MSC Opera comes to the UK

We decided to do this cruise to 'test' MSC as we had heard bad things, but also good things about the ships themselves. Really glad we did! I appreciate that 2 night cruises tend to be a bit different to longer ones, in terms of atmosphere, but the issues we encountered were a much wider problem that it just being a bit of a 'booze cruise'. In fact, half the problem was trying to get a drink in ...

Like other passengers on this ship, we too have been on a number of cruises, so know how things work. We arrived early only to be herded In to a marquee where we waited for around 3 hours before boarding. The refreshments were chargeable, in view of the time waiting, these should have been complimentary. Finally we boarded and decided to purchase the two day drinks package. We were then told we ...

Hi, we are not new to cruising and have previously used p&o , Cunard , royal Caribbean and ncl and I can honestly say I have never expected so little and received even LESS!!!. We decided on a last minute break to Norway from southampton . Myself , my husband and our 11 year old son. The excursion seemed to be just what we wanted and they also offered a children's club, which was ideal for us ...
