It had a very good itinerary of destinations, at the right time for our plans.
The destinations were great. The ship was very clean and comfortable. The food was awful. Very little selection, very slow service, very bland tasting, very little portions, very plain food. The pizza and baked fish were good.

I picked this cruise for the price as a solo traveller as I thought the itinerary was good for the time of the year (Dec), overall I got good value for money as the ship was clean and the crew hard working. This was our first cruise with M.S.C. cruises and we chose this cruise for the itinerary not the ship. Before we booked our cruise we looked on various websites for reviews on the Opera but there was not many, and what there was were not very good. We felt there was a lot of waiting in lines. But the guests were very rude, arrogant & pushy. And people invade your space. Waiting for a shuttle bus, for approx 200 people and only one arrived a fight broke out.
There needs to be more organisation. There is hardly any waiting staff around the pool & go to the bar you would die of thirst waiting to be served.

We took this cruise because the itinerary was good, the price was right and it dovetailed with the end of a land tour that we took in Croatia. However, we did not anticipate that the ship would be full of Italians on Easter holiday with their children, or that some port and shopping activities would be completely closed due to the holiday.

I have a child and this cruise offered interesting places, at the right time, offering a kids club..
While the rooms were clean and neat and the food ok, the real downside was our noisy cabin right above a night club disco.
They were unable to move anyone and as the bass was so strong and volume so loud I tried to have the music level lowered. There was lip service paid to my complaint, ...

We sailed on MSC Opera, western mediterranean (Genova, Marseille, Palma, Ibiza, Olbia, Livorno) on 30 june 2018. I am Italian, my husband is from US, we sailed before on other cruise lines. We choose MSC to get the "Italian experience".

Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly, but probably because people were getting on/off in different ports.
Our cabin was ready by 11.30. We had someone elses luggage delivered to our cabin. Sorted out fairly quickly.
Cabin was clean and our steward was friendly and efficient.
