We chose this cruise as a short getaway during Spring Break. Everything was simply beyond expectations. This was my 5th and best cruise yet. The ship overall was in excellent condition, clean, and sported a friendly atmosphere. The cabin exceed our expectations. We signed up for a TBD cabin as it was the cheapest option when we booked the cruise and we really do not care what our cabin is since we don't spend much time there. We were very pleasantly surprised!! We ended up assigned to 1202. It is an interior cabin on deck one, but it was huge! If you look at the deck plan, you can see it was an odd shaped room compared to a standard interior. I've stayed in a junior sweet and interior rooms and this was the largest cabin I have been in. We absolutely loved it! The location at a dead-end, kept it very quite from outside traffic in the hallway. We heard some hull noises maybe called by water hitting the hull, but only once or twice and it was not intrusive. No vibrations, no engine noises, just nice and quite. Dining options were excellent and we did not eat in the same place twice over the three days. The entertainment was amazing. Nono, the Cruise Director, was the best of my cruising experience. She was friendly, high energy, helpful and funny. The crowd was younger with many college and younger kids. But everyone was friendly, well mannered and fun! The shows were amazing! We partied like rock stars! We didn't do an excursion in Nassau. We just walked to the public beach, relaxed, shopped, and casually strolled around. Read Less

We chose this trip because of Value for the money and high ratings. We have no regrets on our choice. The trip was full of activities and events. We did one shore excursion on Nassau but stayed on the ship at Freeport, still could not cover the activities. The violin concerts by Eureka Strings were the highlight of our cruise. We attended those all 4 evenings. The kids' Camp Ocean was wonderful too. The teachers there were caring and helpful. Our 3 year old was happy being there 2 hours at a stretch. Food was really good, wide variety for vegetarian dishes, service was great. I would definitely recommend shore excursions through Carnival especially for folks with kids so that you are back before the ship leaves. The exceptional part of the cruise was courteous and welcoming staff. It was a fantastic experience as 1st time cruisers. We will definitely go again! Read Less

Bottom line of this review: You get what you pay for and WASH YOUR HANDS. This was my third cruise with Carnival, with my other two sailings on Miracle. I've never cruised with anyone else. My partner and I chose this cruise because we wanted a quick getaway and couldn't commit to a 7 or 10-day sailing. We understood Liberty was not one of the newer ships, and amenities/cabins may be outdated, and that the entertainment may not be Broadway-worthy. Embarkation was a breeze - even for being Spring Break season! It seemed like it took us less than 20 minutes to get on board. All Carnival staff were kind and helpful during this process. The only thing we wish we would have remembered was to tip the gentlemen that help with your luggage before you embark, even if it's just a dollar or two. Definitely choose the Balcony cabin. Totally worth it. Our stateroom steward was fabulous! The room itself is nothing to write home about - clearly outdated. To me, all dining was mediocre and got old quickly. Guy's Burger Joint was delicious. The best entrees were the prime rib and the leg of lamb with curry sauce. I ordered the surf n' turf dinner the last night.... very underwhelming and not worth it. My steak was sirloin and not filet mignon. I cannot comment about the bar service as we maybe had three drinks the whole time. We purchased the Bottomless Bubbles package and would recommend it if you like sodas/juices. The cocktails we had were definitely strong. The entertainment was fun and lively, but not 5-star. The "Flick" production was a little awkward but the singing/dancing was great. Our cruise director, NoNo, is fabulous and will always keep you entertained! The comedy acts were excellent. Everyone showed up for the deck parties and had a fantastic time. The service was absolutely wonderful. Every staff member smiled, waived and said "Good morning/good evening" when you walked by. Always greeted with a smile. One of the highlights of the sailing, by far. The day at sea was a little underwhelming. We mostly stayed in the Serenity area which was wonderful. The cabanas were awesome and very private! I've been to Nassau before - it's a beautiful and fun port, but make sure to have something to do. We didn't have anything planned and decided to wing it... a little bit of a mistake on our part. We went to the nearby Tiki Bikini beach hut - lots of college kids there so be warned. $30 for two chairs, an umbrella and free WiFi for the day. If you do this, don't leave your beach chairs unattended for too long. They forgot we purchased the chairs earlier in the morning and accused us of not paying. Freeport was really run-down, but the weather was beautiful and our excursion was lovely. We did the private beach and open bar package through Carnival. If you go with this excursion, do yourself a favor and purchase the buffet as well - it looked delicious and we really wanted to try it! The beach was gorgeous and the staff was super friendly. The buses were not very well-organized but we got back just fine. The bus driver also gave us a very informative tour on the way there which we loved. Now on to the absolute worst part of the cruise, which might change my mentality about cruises (and Carnival) forever. My partner and I both contracted norovirus or food poisoning while aboard... so ALWAYS wash/sanitize your hands and be careful with what you eat! We most likely got this from lettuce, fruit or any other uncooked food. I spent the last evening on board (which happened to be the roughest water) exploding from both ends for HOURS. One of the worst nights of my life, and made traveling the next day absolutely dreadful. I would cruise Carnival again, but not for a while. Might try Royal Caribbean, Holland America or Celebrity next time. Most are owned by Carnival, but whatever. The last night on board just put a bad taste in my mouth... literally and figuratively. We called ourselves "Chicks On the Run" and a group of girlfriends decided to take a three day cruise and have fun, play cards and enjoy music and laughter and girl company. Boy were we in for a negative surprise!! We chose the line and ship so that we did not have to drive eight plus hours to south Florida. First the room attendant only gave us one small bar of soap for two guests. Towels were gray and rough and even though we asked for extra towels we never received them nor did we ever get a bucket of ice in our room. Dirty glass was left for us to clean??? . Cabin was kept clean, however the vinyl couch left much to be desired and one would never want to sit on it! Dining room staff gave us terrible service; so bad that we complained at Guest Services. Wine was brought to the table after we had finished most of our meal and the table was still filled with dirty dishes while the the waiter was serving us our dessert. Steak was tough, prime rib was tough and they do not know what au jus is. We received gloppy beef gravy for the prime rib. Breakfast was not much better in the dining room, as you had to ask for every little thing, including jam, butter and little pastries, just to name a few. Lunch at the buffet was good. Guy Fierrri's burgers were the best and the line to get a burger proved it. The Mongolian Wok station was also very good, however long, long lines to have your selections cooked. Dirty floors all around the ship, lack of help all over the ship was quite obvious. Do not get the "Drink Package" as you will never get the service to order the drink and if you do, you will not receive it, way within an hour! Daylight savings time and the ships clocks were never corrected, so we got our wakeup call an hour late! Public bathrooms were nasty. Needed a luggage tag for disembarkation, go get it yourself! I am still waiting for credit for my beverage package that I was told would be credited to my account!! The best part of the cruise was being with friends! Carnival was to give us a "Cocktail Party with dry snacks and drinks. It turned out to be drinks we really did not want and not even a cracker was to be found! Desserts were good. So I guess the saying "Let Them eat cake" is the way Carnival thinks!!! Smoke was terrible wherever you walked on the public areas of the ship. Felt bad for the staff that had to inhale all the second hand smoke around them. I have sailed over 25+ cruises, including Carnival and I have never been on a ship as bad as this. Read Less

My husband and I needed to get away for a few days to totally unwind and we did just that. Now just so you know this was our 32 cruise and this was our 6th Carnival cruise and majority have been with RRCL. What does anyone really expect to get for three days? We expect a clean room #1, ice bucket kept full, room steward to provide us with clean towels and good food. Our room was clean but never to my standard so I Clorox everything that's a solid surface and fabreeze all materials - now I know it's halfway clean. Room steward asked when we preferred to have him to service our room and we opted for mornings - choice was morning or afternoon. A little strange for us as we are accustomed to twice per day. First day it's now 2pm and room is still the same as we left it. We saw steward and he asked if he could clean our room and we asked for just clean towels seeing it was so late and we had stayed away thinking he would clean the room "in the morning". We rarely saw him for the rest of our cruise. We would get our own ice and kept the room pretty clean and he would bring clean towels sometime during the evening when we were out. Food - 1st night we ate at the Diamonds steakhouse and my surf and turf was excellent, but my husbands prone rib not so much. Should have been better seeing that we paid for this meal. Other meals were in the cafeteria and it was horrible - not many choices here and the same food day in and day out and they would serve you the food I guess cost more like bacon.....weird. Tables weren't cleared off and half the time we never saw workers at all. I felt that we were to totally take care of all our needs everywhere on this ship. Staff never made it a point to say hello and ask if we needed anything as if to avoid having to do anymore than needed. Food wasn't good but we didn't starve either. Shows were ok,but the one thing that was above and beyond our expectations was the cruise director Nono she was fantastic in engaging with everyone especially after the shows in the Atrium I think it was called Flowers we had a fantastic evening on the last night - thanks Nono!! We had a balcony and it was filthy of course a good wash down was needed and you couldn't even see out of the windows when you sat in the chairs. My husband cleaned them with soap and water which was much better. Neighbors above us, left and right were loud and fowl mouthed - could have done without! You pay extra for a balcony so clean it up people....bottom line I really felt like we weren't on a cruise that service was a priority from the staffing. What a shame! Again three days what should you expect? Service wasn't anything to write home about, cleanliness overall the public areas were clean but lacked in our stateroom/balcony. Food - nothing special at all. Would I do this one again.... NOPE! I would not. I'll pay extra to be on RRCL. Read Less

I will definitely recommend this cruise to anyone asking for a cruise. Read Less

We just got off the 3 day Liberty, and had a great time. DH and I booked this because I wanted a getaway for my birthday and after pricing a few places in FL, we decided that cruising was as cheaper or cheaper than getting a nice beach condo, eating out, and doing something special for entertainment. We live in Central FL, so it's easy for us to book last minute. I love the relaxed feel of a cruise. It's so nice to unplug from social media, the news, and work. Hubby and I spent a lot of time relaxing with a good book on Serenity Deck. We also enjoyed chatting with fellow cruisers in the hot tubs on Serenity and at dinner. We got great exercise walking around the ship and climbing stairs. We got to Port Canaveral at 11:10 for our 12:30 boarding appointment. We were hoping we might get on a little early. There was no line at all and we walked right in. We were on the Lido deck eating lunch shortly after 11:30. That was a nice surprise and a great way to start our weekend! Our first day for lunch we had Blue Iguana. I didn't want the tortilla shell, so they put the beans, rice, chicken, and pico de gallo on a plate, and I got tomatoes, crema fresca, and limes from the salsa bar. So, so good! By the way, the next day for breakfast, I got mexican style scrambled eggs from Blue Iguana. There was no line, and the eggs were delicious! Again, I didn't want a tortilla, so they just put it on a plate for me. Lunch the next day was a yummy Guy's burger. No bun, even though the server teased me, "no bun, no fun!" I put plenty of bacon and tomato on it, which made it fun for me. We always indulged in desserts from the buffet. Later in the afternoon, we had ice cream with a couple of salted dark chocolate cookies from the deli. Yum! We'd heard several of our new Serenity deck friends talking about how good the Cuban sandwich was in the deli, so that was lunch the third day. They were right; it was goooooood! Also that day was the chocolate buffet on Lido. The peanut butter chocolate cake wasn't great, but the blackberry chocolate was. Hubby loved the triple chocolate cake. We ate in the MDR two of our three nights. We both loved our food the first night. Hubby had the beef brisket and it was tender and delicious! My mahi mahi was good too, but his beef was wonderful. I had the orange and grapefruit fillet salad for my appetizer that night and enjoyed it. The second night, we both had the meatball soup as our appetizer. I thought it was good, but hubby didn't care for it. We were both mystified because there were NO meatballs in it. It had a meatball flavor, but no actual meat in either of our bowls. I had delicious prime rib for my entree. Hubby had the stuffed peppers. He wasn't impressed. By the third night, we were ready for a more relaxed dinner where we didn't have to wait on the waitstaff to bring us menus, bread, water, etc, so we ate at the buffet. Several of the entrees and appetizers on the buffet were the same as they were offering in the MDR. We weren't disappointed with the food, and were actually surprised at how crowded the buffet was that night. I sure did miss my chocolate melting cake, though! We loved the two shows in the main theater (Flick and America Rocks). The main male singer is especially talented, wow! These are far from the cheesy shows of yesteryear. We enjoyed the Motown trivia time in Flowers lobby as well as the violin trio. We saw 2 PG shows in the comedy club. They were both ok. We also saw Hasbro, the Game Show. It was cute and good for a few laughs. We hung out in the Piano Man bar one night. I didn't like the guy who was there nearly as much as the Irish gal who was on the Liberty last April when a friend and I went. This guy was a little too snarky for my taste. Nono, the cruise director, had great energy. All the staff are nice and very helpful. Fortunately, the weather was wonderful our three days. We met lots of cruisers from up north (we live in Central FL). I know they were glad to have the warm weather and sunshine! Debarkation took a while. We decided to check our luggage, so we put it out the night before and chose debark #14. There must have been a delay at the port because people who were carrying their own luggage were supposed to debark starting about 7am through 8:30ish, but I don't think they started with Deck 1 until almost 8. Then it took a long time until they called Deck 2, and another long time until they called 6 and 7. Again, this was only those who were carrying their luggage off. They were supposed to be calling #8-11 of people who checked their luggage at about 8:30, and #12 and higher starting at 9:30. By 9, they were still working on the people who were carrying their own luggage off, and finally at about 9:45, they called the last 3 decks of people carrying their own luggage, plus all of us who had checked our luggage. They must have realized that they needed to clear the ship for the next group! But the line moved fairly fast, and we were in our car by about 10:15 and headed home. This cruise was the perfect blend of fun and relaxing! Can't wait to start planning my next cruise! Read Less

First, I was pleasantly surprised how easy the embarkment process went. We paid for the Faster to Fun and I did feel things went fast. our room was ready as soon as we got on board and our room was clean and fairly spacious. We ate in the dining room the first night. The wait seemed longer than necessary to get our food and the food was gross. We didn't eat it. We ate at the buffet/ fast food restaurants from then on. Breakfast options were also gross. the buffet was usually gross. The burger place, deli, pizza place and burrito place were the only places we would eat. The "ice cream" was that fake stuff too. Such a disappointment. Turns out, unless you want to get drunk or BLOW through money there is NOTHING to do on the ship during the day. So our "day at sea" was boring. We pretty much just read our books and played cards. The comedy shows at night were pretty funny and we enjoyed the show "Flick". Why all the good stuff was at the same time in the evening is beyond me but there you go. Our first stop was at Nassau. Disembarkment was smooth. and our activity was fun. We did the Dolphin VIP day. our "tour guide" wasted an hour and a half on a tour we DID NOT WANT which cut into our beach and snorkeling time. That was pretty disappointing. Meeting the dolphin was pretty amazing though and we did get to snorkel for a very little bit and saw some cool fish. I'd recommend this activity - just ditch the tour. Our second day was at Freeport. Why in the world they stop here I will never understand. What a waste of a day!! For starters, we did the jet ski tour. This WAS NOT A TOUR. This was a race at dangerous speeds and most of the people in our party ended up in the water which led to long periods of waiting for them to be able to go again until the next person fell off. I DO NOT recommend this tour. We were dropped off at a beach to get lunch and swim. The food was disgusting and cold. The beach was crowded. we could not wait to get on the bus and get back to the ship. Such a disappointment and a waste of money. I will say that ALL the staff was friendly and helpful. Our housekeeping staff took excellent care of us, tables were kept clean in the eating areas so points to them! Disembarkment back at port was relatively painless and well organized so I give them props for that as well. The boredom and the food killed it for us though. I doubt we will do another cruise. This is my 7th Carnival cruise and the last 2 I went on I swore not to give them another shot but I did one more time and this is the last time! The food was worse then Golden Corral, the only good meal was the steak house that I paid an extra $38 per person for but I will say it was great! The ship is decent older now and needs freshend up but over all in good shape, I won’t complain about the ship. The cabin Steward was awful never changed the sheets once and I know because I spilled a tiny bit of coffee on the top sheet and instead of him changing the sheets he took the top sheet off and used it as the bottom sheet and the bottom sheet as the top sheet! Also never vaccumed the cabin once that I could notice. Dining room service was pretty slow and took forever to receive the drinks. Also the room service food menu is sorry and went over the scheduled time for delivery. I am not a picky person but for a few hundred dollars more I will spend it to receive better quality food and service on another cruise line. Read Less

We wanted to try a new destination, new adventures in the Bahamas.....Took the Balmoral Excursion because it was described as "easy". We are senior travelers and wanted an EASY time. Literally, walked a MILE to get to the tender boat. We tried to keep up with the huge group. Came to a point where we lost the group,,,asked for help and not one person knew where the group had gone....finally asked for information and a great gal called the tour leader and they had to send someone to get us,,,Got to the island,,,more walking....Had a cabana booked,,no guidance to which one it was...finally got into the right one,,,dirty and not at all what the picture online showed. Took a while to get cabana service. Food was INEDIBLE and expensive. NOT worth any of the expense...Poor service and definitely NOT worth the money..Poor planning on the excursion team....NOT FOR anyone with a disability such as some difficulty in walking..NOT AN EASY EXCURSION!!!!!! ..Unorganized on all levels..Made our cruise start off on a tough level....Never again taking an excursion that is described as "easy". The Liberty ship decorations were the most beautiful of any ship I've seen.,The food at all areas was wonderful, as usual. We ate at the Crab Shack,,,,yummy lobster....we also at the Steakhhouse,,,,DELICIOUS!!!!!!! Next cruise is booked already,,,,,on the Miracle,,,,smaller,,,less cruisers,,, Entertainment on board was wonderful. Dining terrific. Ship big and easy to get around. Activites fun like the trivia and bingo,,Service is par excellence......go again,,,,,YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cruise to Cabo San Lucas booked for 2021---on The Miracle.... Read Less
