First and Last time on Holland America

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Eurodam

This was cruise #7 for us; however, our first with HAL. This was our least favorite of the cruise lines on which we have sailed. Specifically, reasons include, boring/lack luster entertainment, lack of on board activities and poor selection of food choices in dining room. We wanted to have a table for 2; did not want to share. We were made to feel that this was an imposition and unreasonable. ...

Not much diversity with food, and entertainment

We've just returned from a 10-day, Panama Canal Cruise, starting, and ending in FLL. Before I begin expressing some of my dissatisfactions, I want to give high praise, to the ship's employees. They were Excellent!!!! I have been on numerous cruises, with other cruise lines, and found this Holland American Ship, lacking. I have never experienced, an additional fee, for any dish selection, ...

Solid HAL cruise as long as you have a realistic expectation

My wife and I just returned from a 10-day Panama Canal Cruise from HAL Eurodam. We flew down to FLL on Friday March 24. It’s the tail end of Spring Break and every hotel near the airport was $300 per night or more. I booked a room using Marriott Bonvoy points at Towneplace Suites Ft Lauderdale West. It’s a 25-minute drive from the airport, but even if we had booked a hotel near the ...

Nickel and Dimed to Death

Our fourth cruise with HAL and second on the Eurodam with family in the next cabin and our first cruise since COVID hit. We had no idea things were this bad in the Industry that they were nickel and diming passengers every time you turned around. First time we had ever seen up charging for meals in the MDR and extra tip chits every time you ordered a drink with the drink package. Even the ...

This was our second cruise with Holland America and first on the Eurodam. The Eurodam is a very nice ship, having been recently spruced up with new dining room furniture and new carpeting throughout the ship. We had a verandah cabin with a very nice balcony. Much nicer and wider than the Regal Princess we were just on recently. The only glaring fault of the cabins is the bathroom which is ...

Not a shining example of HAL

I have been on several HAL cruises before and really felt like this was my cruise line. One thing Eurodam had that I loved was their library. It was expanded quite alot and had very current authors and books. I and other passengers loved this amenity. I had recently been on a Nieuw Amsterdam ship (Nov 2022) and my husband and I really enjoyed it. Food and entertainment were just as good as ...

Eurodam has still got it

We chose this cruise to relax with family members 1 year before the cruise, who knew how bad we would need it. Embarkation was well organized and quick at Ft Lauderdale, under 30 mins from the time we dropped off out luggage to the time we were in our cabin! We were on Eurodam 10 years ago and she is still in great shape, her last drydock the carpet was replaced in the main spaces, dining rooms, ...

Over 25 cruises, several on HAL. We find the HAL product much diminished. Menus downgraded, although the food was better than an October cruise. Same menu every sea day for lunch. Almost every beef dish, including potroast, very tough, even in the Pinnacle. Entertainment was good and bad. Comedians performed in the BBKing's. You had to get there an hour before to get a seat. On our 10 ...

Chose this cruise for the itinerary but loved it. Definitely an older person cruise. We were a group of 30-40 to with a toddler (one of 3 onboard) and even without the toddler were half the average age. We loved the ports. Cartegena had lovely zoo and we had a good time on our excursions. We had a beautiful balcony. Food was excellent. The pizza and burger quick service was outstanding. At the ...

We enjoyed this 10 night cruise to the Caribbean and the Panama Canal

We chose this cruise because we wanted a January getaway to warmer climes than included the Caribbean with a focus on the Panama Canal. We booked early when this cruise was thinly booked and received a good price and a upper floor veranda upgrade in the process. We have travel with HAL in Alaska on a slightly smaller but similar ship and were very familiar with the ship's layout. The Good: ...
