This time last year I wrote that Holland America were a company to be avoided. This resulted from problems experienced on the Veendam on a cruise from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego, their dissembling as to the reasons for the problems and the subsequent lack of reasonable compensation. I am happy to report that the company has more than redeemed itself as far as my wife and I are concerned.
The ...
This was our 40th cruise, spread across all the major cruise lines. Our cruise had very good points along with really disappointing ones too!
First to the good ones; room stewards, dining room waiters, BB King Blues Club, Lincoln Center string quintet, fitness center, we're all outstanding.
The detractions to a good cruise were numerous as well. The size of our room was totally ...
We are retired and have been on many cruises over the years (over 20+), many of which were on Holland America. This cruise was one of the best we have ever taken. We have been very disappointed with some of the other Holland America ships (Ryndam & Zuiderdam) but the Eurodam was excellent. We love Holland America but have learned that all of their ships aren't the same. Would recommend that ...
We choose this cruise as the dates suited us and we enjoy the long sea days. We were not disappointed. The changes made to the ship since last year were in the main an improvement. The layout of the Gallery Bar and the Casino worked so much better now.
The new piano bar looks good but on this cruise it was not as popular as we have seen the piano bar previously. We enjoyed the ...
We flew in to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and arrived around 9:30 AM on Sunday (the day of embarkation). After picking up our luggage, it was only 10 AM. We decided to wait in the airport for another 30 minutes, thinking we could not start the embarkation until later. By the time we left the airport at 10:25 AM, there was so much traffic leaving airport. And we also waited ...
I’m dumbfounded and not sure where to start my review of this “dam” ship - Eurodam. As a disclaimer, remember – this review is only my opinion and commentary. As a qualifier, I am well cruised and love all the things about cruising that make addicts out of so many of us. My kids have grown up cruising – often on HAL with really terrific experiences and memories in the past. Unfortunately, ...
We sailed from Ft. Lauderdale to Half Moon Cay (Bahamas); Rio Ochos Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Key West, FL. The ship had been in dry dock for two weeks in December and looked great.
It was an older crowd generally (like us) but there were also some children and younger adults on board.
Standouts on the cruise:
- Food in the dining room was excellent, service was just as good.
- ...
We sailed the Eurodam for a Collector's cruise 3/13 to 3/27/16, and it was truly Paradise for us. This was our first HAL cruise, and we enjoyed ourselves so much, that we are going on another 14-day Southern Caribbean on the Oosterdam next March.
Due to spring break, we were unable to get a hotel close to FLL, so we stayed in Miami (at the Miami Airport Hotel) on Saturday evening. Traipsed ...
We have probably cruised a half a dozen times. We mostly do land trips in various parts of the world that we have planned. This was our first cruise on Holland America and it was a themed trip which we really enjoyed, Smooth Jazz cruise. So the entertainment was amazing. We used hotel points and flew into Florida on our own and took the hotel shuttle to the port. Embarkation was smooth and not too ...
We have traveled on the Eurodam once before and this time was no different. Our stateroom was excellently appointed and well looked after. Our room stewards were attentive and warm. Our stateroom was near the aft elevators, so access to the Lido deck dining was superb, but access to the front was a longer walk. Next time we will take a midship cabin.
We booked a Lido cabana for the duration of ...
